March the 14th is a special day,
That mathematicians celebrate in an odd way.
It's filled with lots of round things for every girl and guy,
It's the day we celebrate a thing called pi.

It isn't a dessert that's flaky and sweet,
Not to be confused for the Spanish word for feet.
Still, pi has lots of digits and is sweet as can be,
What exactly is pi? Well, now you'll see:

Pi is the ratio of the circumference of any circle to its diameter. Whether big or small, that circle's ratio will always equal pi.

Whether it's the pie that you just ate,
Or the crummy, berry surface of that silver plate,
Whether it's apple or pumpkin or peach that you tried,
That circle's ratio will always be pi!

Another thing to know is that this pi never ends.
It would probably be a baker's best friend.
But we're dealing with numbers, not stuffing your face,
You'll see that pi's digits are all over the place!

Now let's see how many numbers of pi we can name.

Happy Pi Day! I wanted to do a little something different this year. To celebrate the occasion, I wanted to pay homage to Schoolhouse Rock! I've always enjoyed those songs and the simple art style, not to mention the large feet they give to the characters. Since they don't have a song about pi, I decided to write one, or at least a slice of one. Jess Desserts is also here in her teacher clothes, shoes not included. Whether you like mathematical pi, bakery pie, or Spanish Pie, I hope everyone has a sweet day today.
