Description
Evolutionary Chronicle - MuakaMuaka are large felines native to the mountains and polar regions of the Mata Nui continent. They are some of the few Carnivorans left on Earth post the end-Holocene extinction event. Their size, strength and fur make them well-adapted to cold environments, where they rank among the top predators of the continent. Muaka are strong, but relatively slow predators, preferring to wait in ambush rather than chase down prey over large distances. Muaka have fat stores mainly around the neck, allowing them to go on for long periods of time between hunts. When times are particularly stressful, some Muaka have even been known to hibernate for up to several months within caves deep in the mountains. They are solitary, territorial animals, meeting only to mate. A female Muaka can give birth to up to four cubs in a litter, who stay with their mother until a year old, then banished to fend for themselves.

I've noticed a lack of Nui Kopen and Mana Ko in thi collection - maybe I just haven't found them, though.

Okay. Take your time - you probably have something more urgent to do than redesigning Bionicles.

I'm not sure that it is, maybe it's the oversized, maybe it's something else, but this Muaka design reminds me more of a marsupial than a feline. Regardless, is a great take on the classic Rahi creature.

I see where you're coming from with this. While I did use the original toy as the "skeleton" for the most part, the final result does have some resemblance to 's depiction of the marsupial lion, here:
Quite an odd coincidence, but it could be noted as an example of convergent evolution in the Muaka species.

Skull. I meant oversized skull...that got deleted for some reason....
Yes, I can certainly see the resemblance now. I've had marsupial lions on the brain lately so I don't know why that didn't click sooner.
