Description
Art exchange piece for chacusha, the prompt was "Dany wearing Targaryen colors. (I have such a weakness for the badassity that is Dany + red&black!) Would love to see a blend of east and west in her costume as well (e.g. her hair braided with bells still)". I took the liberty to redesign Dany's crown as I'm honestly not a fan of the huge headpiece that's described in the books, since this is a (hypothetical) future!Daenerys let's pretend she lost the old crown/changed her mind/whatever.The detail on the throne is kinda eh and I meant to get back to work on it later, but it's been a few months and let's face it, I'm not going to do that.

I just realised that in the show she is most of the time in white/blue...

Awesome! All hail the Dragon Queen!
Say, do you think it would become a Targaryen tradition to wear Dothraki bells? That'd be cool...

That would be awesome! However according to Dothraki tradition, each Targaryen would have to win battles for the right to wear bells in their braids.

Not battles per se, just "victories". Dany got a bell for destroying the Undying, for instance.

It's odd that the Targaryen's have such fair complexions yet their house color's are so dark... I guess. Anyway great job!

Well yeah, but if you think of stuff like FIRE and LAVA it starts to make sense, I guess
Glad you liked it!

I love this! This is my new favorite Dany picture (and it's about time, since my previous favorite is a few years old!). My only issue with it is that you made her hair blonde rather than silvery but eh, I'm sure you had a good reason--the piece is too good to begrudge that.
I shall definitely look through the rest of your ASOIAF stuff now. You have a great design sense, I think. I especially love the dragon-tipped scepter, it's just so--so very Roman, which is fitting since Valyria is a Rome-analog. I love her outfit too, and I agree that the diadem/coronet is a lot better than the ridiculous crown they gave her in Qarth.
You wouldn't happen to have this in a larger size than 600x800, would you? I'd love to use this as a wallpaper if at all possible.

Thanks a lot, I'm glad you liked it! To be honest I always interpreted the Targaryen silvery hair as something between platinum and ash blonde (as opposed to the Lannister golden shade), rather than greyish/white. Though I agree that in this particular picture it turned out to be more saturated
As for the Roman influence - yeah it wasn't intended but it's there, it's hard not to see the parallel, though I always associated the Targaryens mostly with the Byzantine empire... one of my "someday I should draw this (but most likely won't because I'm too lazy)" pet projects is to paint a faux!mosaic of Dany and her dragons kind of in this style. Oh well. Maybe someday...
