Description
Maester Aemon from A Song of Ice and Fire. He's one of my favorite supporting characters in the series; it might be a cliche, but I just love the wise, benevolent old man figure. For Aemon, I wanted a sort of iconic look - a bit like the statue of an evangelist or of a prophet - because his personal history has some mythical feature in it. But I also hope his good nature comes across as well.Speed painting; pencil sketch and photoshop CS2.

One of the kindest men in Westeros is rewarded by the kindest of deaths; falling into sleep, at a grand old age

Stupendo. Stupenda la pelle così chiara nello sfondo scuro. E la fisionomia.

This is wonderful as always, Poggy. Though for some reason, everytime I think of Maester Aemon, Peter O'Toole comes to my mind.

Well, it seems everybody has their own version of this character in mind, lol. Although I agree that O'Toole would look great in the role if the tv series actually gets going :-D

Great job! I love the chin stubble. The only thing I would say is that he needs more wrinkles, because this man, while old-looking, doesn't look as ancient as Aemon was. Are you planning on refining it any more?

Nah, it's just a speed painting I've done stealing time from other art I'm actually paid for One thing I noticed though - when on the news they show "the country's oldest man/woman" and such... they never look *terribly* old even if they are, like, 105 years old. I guess it's because if you are able to get to such an old age, your body is very healthy to begin with.
