Description
"In the end, all I really wanted was a chance. Another chance to tell you... I love you."Alcor closed his eyes; Peace had finally returned, the future seemed bright.
He was pleased with how it ended, he wouldn't have wanted it any other way, not after losing her. It was a perfect ending.
I'm totally skipping a LOT of pieces of Alcor and Adhara's story here, but I just really, really wanted to do this one first. The picture depicts a scene from the Past, but the writing is in the Present, this is a memory of Alcor's.
I won't put that little bit of writing in context though, so as not to spoil it. Feel free to interpret it as you wish for now (:
FIRST TRADITIONAL DETAILED WORK OF 2011, WOO. How sad, it's almost November.
But with this I can kiss my art block/lack of motivation/whatever goodbye. I didn't forget how to shade/color after all and I didn't completely ruin this with my rusty hand. I'm happy now.
The anatomy certainly isn't the best, but I'm happy that I finally drew something and didn't give up on it halfway. I forgot drawing was supposed to be fun for a while.
I assure you those pencil strokes in the sky aren't that visible on the paper, thank my scanner.
First time drawing Zuni in a detailed way too! She's a pain btw.
Still the background isn't detailed, but really, I don't care.
Alcor and Zuni are ÂĐ to me.
October 2011

Love the colors in the orange pelt! The markings look almost metallic. And the detail/linework in the hair is very nicely done, never too rushed or clumped. Glad to see art from you again.

I did have a lot of patience with those manes, manes and tails are definitely one of my favorite things to color/shade, along with wings <3 Thank you so much

No problem. And kudos--patience is a very coveted virtue in the art field. XD

Wow, Zuni looks amazing, Jo! <3 I'm so glad you were able to get rid of that art block.
Hmmm... I'm intrigued by their story... Well, and especially Zuni--I'm so used to Alcor and Adhara...

Thank you so much, Dyl I really like how Zuni turned out, she may be a pain, but I liked coloring her xD And I'm so glad I'm out of it too D: I can hardly believe it's almost November anyway, where does the time go?
Yeah, I haven't developed Zuni as much I'd like to, yet. She's still a mystery even for me in some areas. But she's a lot like MÃŪr in the sense that she has a very positive attitude and a kind heart. She's extremely stubborn though and a bit hotheaded like her brother at times. Upon creating Nihal, her personality started becoming clearer in my mind, but there's a lot I still don't know about her xD

You're quite welcome, Jo! And, isn't it funny how some of our favorite characters end up being the most difficult to draw...?
Hm, but I reckon it's good to have some characters who are mysteries to us. I have a few kicking around now that I don't know very well. (Which is really funny, because--I guess other characters technically know them better than I do. Heh...)
One thing I've noticed about your characters is that you work with dualism alot--characters standing in opposition (though not necessarily in the sense of confrontation) to each other... so that makes it really fun for me to read their stories and see how you work with those ideas. (If that makes sense XD)

Oh yeah, very funny *glares at Ninni* xD
Most of my characters start that way for me. I gradually discover more about them as I keep drawing them and working on their "stories". Like Memoria: until very recently I knew absolutely nothing about him except for the fact that he lost his entire herd as a foal and survived thanks to the kindness of a Forest Spirit. Didn't know anything about his personality, his life after that, etc., even though he's one of my oldest characters! Upon drawing "All I've Ever Known", I started to get to know him better and his personality is more defined in my mind now. I actually find it to be more fun this way!
Hehe, glad to know you have fun reading their stories, I didn't even do that on purpose, but now that you mention it, you're right!

(Whoa snap, epic comment!)
*grins and pokes and Ninni*
Heehee, I do the same. Like, for this novel I'm writing, there's a character mentioned briefly whom I didn't think would be important at all. And now, suddenly, she's like SUPER important... HAHA.
Hmmm... that's really sweet and deep, how drawing gives you a better window into the life of your characters. What an amazing idea. <3

Zuni was kind of supposed to be only mentioned and not take such an important part in the story, but now she's pretty much the whole reason behind Alcor's behavior xD
