Description After being questioned a lot of times (even by close friends of mine) if I had gotten implants, and after a LOT of thought on the subject of "should I post something like this?" I thought to myself: why not?

Lately this has been a major part of my cosplays and I know not having enough cleavage is a reason many girls end up not cosplaying some characters... and that's just sucky =[

So I hope you enjoy! =]

EDIT: I've made a video to compliment this tutorial teaching you the make up portion of it! Check it out here: [link]

Why would anyone feel cheated? I do this for cosplay accuracy. It's the same as wearing lenses or a wig to change your eye and hair colour.

If a someone were to approach a woman wearing this at a cosplay convention he will probably feel disappointed when he takes off her multiple bras. I don't mean to offend anyone who does choose to use this though >.< That is a personal choice, but it feels... overly falsified?

In that situation you are assuming that some one wearing this for a cosplay would have sex with a random stranger while still in cosplay.
I find that A LOT more disturbing than the fact that I add padding to enhance my boobs.

And then, the girl wearing this, will inevitably get pissed when a guy passing by stares at her tits.

Way to go ladies. The suffragettes would be proud. Nevermind the women all over the globe fighting hard to be seen as more than a walking pair of tits. Let's just make em BIGGER! We'll be noticed MUCH more that way!

Things like this kinda make me sad. And not in a *sniffle* way, but in a shamed kind of way. I don't really give a rat's patoot if the anime character (or whatever character) has big boobs, honestly. That kind of mentality ("Well the *character* has it!") just feeds this whole misogynistic thing. I'm not some cranky man hater, or some stupid feminazi (Feminazi does not equal feminist) but DAMN ladies. I thought we were all in this together to be more than T&A.

Next time, let's have a tutorial for how to make a decent sandwich. Then we can put all those stupid women who think this kind of thing makes them important to work.

I was going to write a full and long response to each comment that has commented to me, but I don't think I'm going to. I'll boil it down to the basics.
Why do you think the characters with huge over-sexualized tits are designed that way? Sex sells in a female character. Big tits, tight ass, tiny waist. That's what sells and garners attention. Then think about this: Why is that what a female character needs for the attention and interest? Playing into that really doesn't help the cause. Making yourself more sexualized to be like an already sexualized character doesn't help. This kinda thing makes me think of all the booth babes -- sexual eye candy to attract a visitor to a booth they would otherwise ignore. That doesn't help either.
Tits do not make a woman. I wonder if half of these big tit characters would be half as interesting if they had small tits.

Yes. Because EVERYONE does this EVERY DAY. Calm down. You don't have to be dissapointed at all girls, if only a few of them are doing this.

And really? Make a sandwich? Do you think you're funny or something?

I'm sorry you feel like this, but one of the most important parts of cosplay for me is accuracy.
It is one thing to over sexualize characters that are in no way sexual (some cosplayers choose to go this route) it is ANOTHER to just be faithful to what you are cosplaying.

If you look at my other cosplays you will see that I do not do this for all of them.

And on another note: if you are wearing ANY kind of cleavage, you should expect stares from guys. That's what happens, guys stare. Period. If you get pissed off then you are just immature.

Z-In-Your-Hair In reply to pomp-berry [2013-06-26 02:16:58 +0000 UTC]

I can understand the accuracy thing. Really, I do. I just wish that it wasn't so necessary to have so much cleavage to play a character in the first place. What about taking a character, regardless of cleavage, and making it your own? For your own body type? With your own spin on it?

I didn't think you did this for all of them, or all the time in your daily life. What gets me is that this kind of thing is needed in the first place; the characters were designed to have big tits in the first place purely for sexual appeal, and it doesn't in any way add to the character's character.

I view cosplay a little differently. I would rather make the character my own than change myself to be them. Being the character is an exhilarating experience, but I wouldn't crash diet for a character who is skinny when I am average. I also don't like playing into the view that oversexualized female characters are a positive thing. Take video games for instance: The male characters are created to be what a man wants to look like. The female characters are created for what a man wants to look AT. That's the way it is, and a lot of women are fighting against that oversexualization of women. Playing into it doesn't help the cause.

Lastly: I agree that women get stares from men wearing cleavage. That was the point. I know a little of little dumb gals who wear boobie shirts and then get pretty pissed when a guy stares. It's an invitation to stare.

pomp-berry In reply to Z-In-Your-Hair [2013-06-26 10:25:32 +0000 UTC]

I usually go for characters that actually match my body type. But sometimes, a busty one comes along!
I totally support people that modify cosplays to suit their likes and needs. After all, they are the ones spending their time and money on it, and they are the ones who are going to wear it, so who should be the one to judge?! =]
I'm just more of the maximum accuracy possible kind of gal. I'm following a pretty rigorous exercise training to get fitter for cosplay. I know I'm probably the 10% that does this, but this is what makes me happy.

I agree there is an oversexualization of women, and in the cases of the super busty characters they really are created for men to look at (since they are targeted for predominantly male teen consumers), but I also think that some characters are also what women want to look like, just like the male characters are what men want to look like. We can see this mostly in super heroes and heroines. They are all at the peak of the "healthy and fit" human form. Characters of BOTH sexes reflect what we would like to be/ achieve.

I think both realities exist in comics and it all really depends on the demographic they are trying to sell to.

you give yourself too much credit sweety, not everyone does it so that dudebro's like you could stare...you are not the center of the world and not everything girls do is for guys to stare at...sometimes, they like how they look with huge boobs or in a accurate cosplay and it makes them feel better. Shocking, i know. anywho...stop acting like a bunch of hormonal teenagers and blaming people who wanna cosplay as accurate as possible for the fact that some dudes are a walking boner ~<3

bookwormchick In reply to Z-In-Your-Hair [2013-06-24 08:39:47 +0000 UTC]

Okay, I think you need to calm down a little bit here. It's for a costume, and, to many people, being accurate is part of the pride of the costume. Think of characters like Jessica Rabbit. Big breasts are one of her design features. And I understand that it may not be as important to you that the costume be accurate as possible, but it may matter to others.

There's another side to this. The way you are reacting to a girl wanting to fit a character or just feel like they have a nice chest for a day is really upsetting. It makes it seem like we, as women, should be ashamed of having the breasts we have because that makes us, by simply having breasts, just eye candy. I'm not big in the chest; and it's an embarrassing thing for me sometimes. If I want to wear a push up bra (or three) because it makes me feel good then I will because it's my choice. And my choosing to look the way I want is a huge part of my own worth. Because I can say that I've freely made a choice and didn't get badgered into looking a certain way because some people think I'm going to look like "just T&A".

Nothing in this tutorial is about boobs for men and I think you're reading it that way. Boobs are not inherently for men. I personally love boobs, I think they are great, beautiful things, and I'm a strait female. Feminism is about releasing women from a subservient view point, and by reading this tutorial through the glasses of "this must be for male attention" it's not really fulfilling that idea. Feminism is about accepting that women have a right to dress, act, and achieve whatever they want and it makes them no less of a person. And I think it's sad that you would drag the whole "making a sandwich" thing into this and call it feminist, because there is nothing wrong with making a sandwich if it makes you happy.

To sum up: I like to cook. I like to cosplay accurately. And sometimes I like to feel attractive so I'll give myself extra boobs. And there is nothing wrong with that because it's my decision and it makes me happy; and it makes me no less of a person. And your shaming of anyone who does is not helping the image of feminism or feminists.

I'm terribly sorry to hear this. Really and honestly I am. You are beautiful exactly the way you are , big tits, small tits or anything else. I hope that the next time you look in the mirror naked you smile proudly at the beautiful body before you. A human body is an exquisite machine of grace, intelligence, beauty, and functionality. I hope that you will always feel attractive in your own skin, without unnecessary additions. I'm promise you, though you won't believe me, and I've never seen you, you are 100% perfectly beautiful just how you are.
