Well I can't give a theory without, getting ideas for different crossovers.

Rarity: Well, that certainly went better than expected, though I wish we had managed to vanquish the beast before it burnt off part of your lovely mane, Fluttershy.
Fluttershy: Oh, don't worry about that, it was mostly my extensions I can fix it when we get home. I'm more worried about Twilight's eye patch.
Twilight: My eye is fine, I did some research on our opponent before we left and and found that it had darkening magic, I brought the eye patch so I would be prepared if it used that ability; it's an old trick to allow you to adjust to sudden decreases in light by keeping one eye covered so it's already adjusted to the dark, one that's still used by Pirates today. I'm just too tired to take the eye patch off.
Pinkie: I'm tired too....And hungry, but I'm too tired to eat my piece of cake, does anypony have enough energy to push the plate closer to my mouth?
Twilight: I thought you could just use your tongue
Pinkie: My tongue's too tired to reach it too....
