I think you've got a decent grasp on color ranges, but I'd suggest adding a little texture and oomph to your mountains and grass. I just did a piece that worked on both of those skills and would recommend you spend a little time exploring mountains and grass.
Also, I would recommend a less 'blobby' approach to the hair, but that's a style thing which you are free to ignore.

I think on your grass it's that the comet isn't lighting up the grass despite lighting up the character.
