Description Here's a piece of lineart for the second art trade I'm working on.  This one is for my IRL friend who wanted a picture of Jetstorm from Beast Machines.  Expect color eventually.

Say what you will about Beast Machines...but you can't deny that the character designs are stunning, especially Jetstorm.  I love how he's able to emote...even though he doesn't have a proper face.    He's obnoxious and arrogant, but man I can't get enough of him.

Enjoy

Love this!
I really enjoyed Beast Machines because you could understand and empathize with pretty much any character you wanted to, good or evil. Jetstorm was a great villain, and I actually felt like the character being changed back into Silverbolt lost some of the cool dynamic he had with the Maximals, it would have been cool if he kept his arrogance and ego and jet form, but rejoined the Maximals anyway because of his past. I'd say the same for Thrust, having a newly-confident Waspinator to bolster their numbers(Instead of the god-awful whiner that is Nightscream...) and a fast vehicle form would've been cool.

...I think we need a remake of Beast Machines, there's so much potential and nostalgia from Beast Wars in the current generations of fans it seems a waste not to use the material in the series to it's full potential.

Great job, always great to see Beast Machines art!

Beast Machines was great, IMO.  The characters were interesting, the animation was spectacular, and the character designs were top-notch.

It would have been neat if he would have stayed Jetstorm, like you said, and if they would have explored the re-development of his relationship with Blackarachnia, that would have been freakin' amazing.  It would have showed that their love was hard-wired into their sparks.  The way that it played out in the show...almost made it seem as if BA was willing to kill someone else, a completely unique individual (Jetstorm) and was justified in doing so because he had Silverbolt's spark (something that she was totally against in Beast Wars).

Nightscream is a bit annoying...but I think that was intentional.  He's the kid struggling to deal with a war that was suddenly thrust upon him.  Coping with the loss of his world and friends, he struggles to prove himself to his comrades...to make himself useful.

Honestly, I don't think I'd want them to redo it.  It was good enough on its own, and I'm afraid that if they were to remake it, that it might end up being worse.

Thanks!  I appreciate the comment.  Always great to discuss fandom stuffs with other Trans-fans. X3

I agree with you on the first two points completely.

I agree, the fandom (including me) is pretty hard on Nightscream, but I'd say that whether or not he was made that way by the writers intentionally, the result is that many viewers never got a reason to empathize with him, and as the potential new rookie, kid appeal character since Cheetor grew up, it's a bad thing when he's not actually the one the kids think is cool and relatable. If he had been done more like Armada Hotshot, or even Armada Sideswipe, I think he would've been an easier pill to swallow, especially considering that a lot of the cool characters in Beast Wars died in the course of that show.

I think another really GREAT part of the show was Tankor/Rhinox, and if all the Vehicon Generals, including Obsidian and Strika near the tail-end of the show, were handled that way to some extent it would've been PHENOMENAL.

Also, Primal's extremism and subsequent repentance? Unforgettable.

Megatron's newfound love of trying to make everyone "See reason" and become part of a singular entity with him as the center? Made him a great version of the character distinct from other variations.

I love Beast Machines, but above all else I want to see it be the series it could be, even if it's different than the show I remember in some ways. Beast Wars had a satisfying but open-ended ending, and while Beast Machines was ended on an AMAZING note, with Transtech never getting made I feel like something is missing. I think whether it be a remake or a comic or simply just a retread like the Rebuild movies are to the anime Evangelion, I think it's sorely needed, too many missed plot opportunities near the ending.

That said, the original is enough for me right now, I like it how it is too.

Awww...thanks.

Same here.  I love everything about him, and I really wanted to capture some of that in this drawing.  I can't wait to color him. X3
