Description Colored version of Toby Hamee: Night Raid.

I know it's not a night colored image as it's title would seem to suggest; that would only work if I were coloring the entire image. I did, however, up the contrast so that her muscles stood out more...as if she were caught in a spotlight.

Note the conspicuous lack of details in the crotch area...I have no idea what a Hork-bajir crotch would look like, nor do I wish to really explore what one could look like.

I've always had a hard time with tree bark, but for some reason I was in some sort of super, draw-tree-bark, awesome mode today. I was grooving it up...*insert the drum and symbol noise typically played after some one cracks a crappy joke* Yeah...bad joke, I know. I'm tired.

This one took nearly as long to render as the last, full-body Fellrik image I completed: 17 hours total rendering time.

I'm really gonna sit down an teach myself how to use photoshop. I've seen some amazing images that were only done in ~2hrs...whereas I would take several days using traditional colored pencils to get the same effect.

Good night, peeps!

Thank you! Believe it or not, I learned a lot of my muscle anatomy by watching DBZ.

They can teach you more than you think. Or more than you'd like to know, in certain circumstances.

She's deciding exactly which unfortunate Yeerk to drop it on.

Yup. Funny how the Hork-Bajir never had clothing too.

Well...the blades would make it a bit difficult. And, if they're anything like Earth reptiles, they really wouldn't have anything to hide.

Well, they have their... crotch. XD

And they can have a simple cloth around their waist, if it came to it, I suppose.

This is quite good! Well done!

Oh, FYI, as far as the crotch area goes, I usually just draw the plated-stomatch look like with snakes and lizards since the Hork-Bajir appeared to be reptilian. I ran it down the length of the throat and down the tail a-ways to give it the lizard-like look.

Thanks! Yeah, I thought about doing that as well, but I got lazy...And my client seemed to like the non-plated sketches better than the plated ones.

Y'know, I think this might be considered under "Mature content" because of the . . . er . . . slit . . . in her crotch-area.
Still, very, very good. And you should learn photoshop. It was designed by Jesus, y'know.

praxcrown5 In reply to Dak-Hamee13 [2010-10-21 15:39:09 +0000 UTC]

The slit would most likely be a cloaca, a general purpose opening through which waste products are extruded and through which reproduction is likely to occur.

Science makes reproductive anatomy sound...well, er, scientific.

Man...it's gonna be a long day.

That would be awesome. One of the hardest things for me is making a copy of an existing object--stamp tool, I'm thinking--and manipulating it for use elsewhere in the image.

Also, I have no idea about how to put a background behind an image.

shonni-etta In reply to praxcrown5 [2010-10-20 17:51:26 +0000 UTC]

Ooh, I will see what I can do with that. What exactly do you mean by manipulating it for use elsewhere? And hm...you know what layers are, right? On Photoshop, I mean.

praxcrown5 In reply to shonni-etta [2010-10-20 18:20:18 +0000 UTC]

Golly, the grammar in my original message was terrible. Sorry about that.

I have gained a modicum of experience coloring and shading. one of the things that I've encountered, and have been stumped by, is being able to select the colored image, and paste in into or onto a pre-rendered background.

I understand the concept of the layer. When I render my colored pencil drawings, each individual color is applied as a layer then blended with the others below it. Actually putting it into practice using Photoshop is a different story altogether.
