The continuous grumble of falling water echoed from inside the cave's entrance, the only noise aside from their quarry's constant whimpers.
"It's a little late for that, huh? Besides you said you wanted it, didn't you?" Shendi pouted at him. Hessic only scoffed.
"I said I wanted to look at it."
Shendi waved an impatient hand at him and returned to watching their unwitting guide. "Same thing. All we have to do is find Syfer's crown, and the sorcerer said he'll forget about the whole book thing."
"A crown that's been missing for centuries," he said. "And the only clue we have to its location came from some half-starved hunter."
"Follow the game trail left at the split yew tree and look for a crying ghost," she r
