Here's the (almost) finished piece. Who knows if I add a few touch-ups here or there before class. I used the oil rub technique that I also used for Rodney Dangerfield. Just for clarification: this is one of the first year teachers, John Williams. He works in the 3D sculpture lab and has somewhat of a potty mouth. I was going to actually give him a toilet for a mouth, but nothing was looking right. Critique is welcome.

Gosh, this brings up memories of all the (good) Art teachers i have ever had. My favorites are always the ones who you know have seen it all and have the personality to back it up. All good art teachers need to be artists and all artists need to be a little crazy, and teretz might just be a side affect. I myself have been known to swear a peice or two into submision.

Love the technique and attention to detail (like the palm trees on the tropical shirt--fantastic) but, because I'm a picky little bitch, it seems like the shadows/lighting don't really all add up. Doesn't seem like he should be casting a full shadow on the desk when a rather large amount of the front side of his body is lit. Feels like the light-source in the picture is casting that shadow, and another above him somewhere is lighting his front.

WOW Damn that rocks out loud man! You are crazy with talent in a super fun kinda of way! I added it to my favorites because one it's funny as hell and I have a teacher just like that, two the techinique is awsomely different and I love it! and three that skull in the backround is the coolest thing I have ever seen! ^.^ The skull is what actually caught my eye first ^.^ I love it you rock!!

Hey! Haha - I went to the same college you did!! I remember him!! And learning the oil & color pencil technique from Perez!! (Did you have him or Dunnick?)
[ Ha - don't let curiousity get the better of you and look at my gallery btw. It's mostly whatever junk I don't like enough to put in my actual portfolio.. and it has some evil slightly-'anime'-ish stuff (though I called it 'game' because i don't really like most anime, but eh - they didn't think so.. Whoa, freaking awesome. I'm a sophomore at Ringling, and I had John's form and space class last year. You captured his likeness (and his personality!) perfectly.

LOL That's great! I love the expression, yuo definately caugth the mood of the situation.
