By request, here is the basic idea of how I painted the brick in "Solace ". The mere painting of the bricks is very intuitive and random. The messier it is, the better...to a point, of course. But, I threw in a few other techniques, like the corner shadows, the light beam, and the use of channel masks, so that the tutorial would be a little more informative overall. Unfortunately, I have no idea how well these techniques will translate into other versions of Photoshop. I hope they're not too terribly different.Completed: Sept. 28, 2007

I love this but sadly, GIMP does not have a few things used here.

I actually found that one of my blood spatter brushes given a slight "jitter" made a good substitute for the missing "texture" step.

Ah. Sorry to hear that. Gimp is good, but I do miss some of the Photoshop features. Hope you can figure out a way to do it anyhow.

Aw, thanks. ^__^ When I took a class for Photoshop, the entire course was tutorials, so I tried to be as comprehensive as they were without coving the basics of the program. ("Now, hit Okay," "This is what the Paintbrush tool looks like," etc.) As for the doodles, I had to fill the space up with something, lol. Actually, I got the idea for that from other tutorialists on DA. It makes the whole reading experience so much more fun. ^__^
