Description
The next in my "How to Be Orc" series.
Kissing is a little challenging when your boyfriend is nearly three feet taller than you. This seemed the best solution. I wanted to draw a picture of the two of them actually kissing, but I haven't figured out how to illustrate that with the tusks just yet. If anyone has any references, or suggestions on how to do that, please let me know.
Since this story has a lot of body positivity themes I thought I'd call attention to Vargan's appearance. He's definitely very ripped in the chest, shoulders and arms, but he doesn't have rock hard abs and a six pack. Actually I try to draw him with a noticeable amount of "fluff" around the mid-section. Demonstrating that guys don't have to have a "perfect" body to be attractive either. I see a lot of other artists depict orcs with bodies like PlayGirl models, no complaints here of course, but I have a different vision for my orcs. Realistically speaking (or as realistic as you can be while discussing mythical races) these are creatures more concerned with physical strength and "ableness" than aesthetics. They are also creatures who drink a lot, and eat a lot, with little regards to the concept of "healthy eating." They'd probably think that dieting is barbaric. I mean, I can't exactly see an orc doing extra leg lifts to build his core muscles, or substituting the fries in his combo meal for a side salad. I imagine orcs doing years of physical training, but they train to be warriors not body builders. When they aren't fighting they are tending to their homes, livestock and farms -all laborious tasks. I think their bodies would reflect this: hearty, strong, healthy
people, who eat and drink as heavily as they work.

I really love this project, but it's tough to dedicate time to it rather than paid projects. Anything you can pledge helps me make my dream for this story come true!
Vargan and Ghorza are my OCs.

Thank you! And yes, there is. It's a novel I'm working on, actually. But I've been doing some concept art for it, and I tell bits of the story with each piece. Here's a link to the initial character sketches for Vargan and Ghorza:

Quite the cute couple these two make! You do raise a lot of interesting points in the accompanying write-up, too.. Well done!

Another viable way to kiss/hug would be for him to sit down on the edge of something, and for her to stand between his legs. (Yes, I thought about this extensively, don't judge XD).
I imagine her face would fit between his tusks just fine, considering that they are pretty wide-set and they come out at an angle rather than sticking straight forward. You're just going to have to make some test sketches to explore what looks good!

Thank you very much for your input. And hey, no judgments here. I spend far too much time thinking about orcs, myself, to judge anyone else. LOL!
And you stress a good point, since his tusks are pretty wide-set it really shouldn't be that hard to draw them kissing. It will just take some practice. Honestly that's one of the things I've really enjoyed about this project -it has challenged me in a number of ways. I've had to learn a whole new way of drawing when it comes to Vargan, and I've even adapted my style a bit for Ghorza.
Thanks again for commenting!

Thank you! It actually took me quite a while, and a number of tries, to get Ghorza's body and proportions just right.

Nice thought put into the body and how it would be developed in regards to lifestyle. 'Kind of makes me think of some who play American Football and just some average Joe's in general. My dad even, his arms and legs have always been quite hard, muscled and defined enough. Then he has a round stomach.
Ah, yes... mythical races... interesting to view, but concepts such as tusks, horns and other additions often found in our reality's animals do not mesh with our human tendencies and customs. In that spirit, maybe Orcs show intimacy and romance in other ways.
"Kiss? What is that?"
"Orcs do not do that to show affection. We do this!" *Shows her something that surprisingly leaves her lightheaded*
