Description
In most fantasy worlds there is typically a "common" language that most of the races speak, with each race having their own indigenous language, as well. In my interpretation the Orcs have no written dialect, only oral, but there are books written in Common and/or Elvish that describe the pronunciations and etymology of Orcish. Even though Orcs speak Common and Orcish interchangeably, I picture Ghorza as wanting to learn the Orc language in her attempts to understand the culture she's been thrust into.So what does Orcish sound like? I'm by no means a linguist, but with MUCH further study, I do plan to construct a very rudimentary language with a few phrases for my novel's final draft. However, right now I picture it being a series of grunts, and short syllables, but also sort of rhythmic. If Elvish could be described as tinkling bells, then Orcish would be like a steady drum beat.

That's awesome that you're coming up with your own language for this!
Β And I like the idea of it being a steady drum beat...that's a very peaceful sort of image, contrary to how Orcs are usually portrayed.

Languages... I never had a knack for them... not even American English, which I grew up with.
