Description Quick Scenario done in about 2 hours

This is based off a scenario in which the revolutionaries in Great War-Era Glasgow are more successful in launching a Communist Revolution in Scotland. Historians debate on the impact the revolutionaries (who made up a significant minority of the protesters in the Rent Strikes) would have had if during the Battle of George Square (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_o… ), instead of disbanding, they marched to the Maryhill Barracks and convinced the local soldiers to join their cause and overthrow the government.

In this scenario, a British overreaction causes a rebellion in Scotland, leading to British occupation. Eventually, in the 1920's, the newly formed Soviet Union funds socialist sympathizers in Glasgow, who manage to form an army and, after a long civil war, repel British troops to the River Forth and the East Bank of the Clyde. A stalemate and following peace agreement eventually leads to the creation of a Soviet satellite state in the north of Britain.

After the conclusion of World War 2 (in which men in North Scotland were conscripted alongside the Soviet Union in their advance into Eastern Europe), North Scotland would see it's alignment fall with the Eastern side of the Iron Curtain, joining the Warsaw Pact. As with other Warsaw Pact nations, Soviet soldiers would remain stationed in Britain, raising Cold War tensions, especially after nuclear missile silos were built in the Highlands and Fife, eventually creeping down towards the de-facto border with South Scotland, in the United Kingdom, putting London and Western Europe in immediate striking range.

Instead of OTL's Cuban Missile Crisis, the closest the world would ever be to nuclear annihilation happened in Scotland, instead of Cuba, as the USSR moved nuclear missiles into Scotland, until a de-escalation of the situation remained the missiles, similar to our timelines.

Under the socialist regime, political opponents, free press, opposition, and social dissidence would be punished, with KGB being present in all communities to keep watch over the nation. Children would learn Russian in schools, and oppression would be widespread, with prison camps being opened in the Highlands for opponents of the regime.

By the late 1980's, Soviet influence internationally would begin to dwindle. The Student Revolution in 1989 would see the fall of the North Scottish regime, as a democratic system would slowly make its way into Scotland. In 1990, the Scottish Republic would be proclaimed.

Today, the Republic of Northern Scotland is a democracy. However, its history has left its people with a standard of living much less than those who live in the South Scotland, a devolved entity in the United Kingdom. Among the remains of brutalist architecture and copper statues of revolutionaries, the government has made strides to move towards the US, joining NATO in 1997, and the EU in 2004.

THIS MAP AND SCENARIO DO NOT SUPPORT MY VIEWS OR BELIEFS. I have attempted to create a realistic scenario involving an imaginary Warsaw Pact nation, based on the history of other Warsaw Pact nations.

Since Russian was taught instead of English does that mean that Russian is the official language of North Scotland or is it another language?

It was during the Communist rule, but now the language has faded (similar to what happened in Warsaw Pact nations) and now the official languages are Scots-English and Gaelic.
