Description
This is a commission for Stephanie of her characters Haize and Caeruleus~ from AX. Don't shoot meee~ I'm still working on commissions!! *dies**cough*
Anyways~ the reason why I named this piece discovery...other than the fact that I can't think of a creative title to save my life, is because i really did learn something new while drawing this. I actually picked it up from what *tobiee and =Orenji-kun were doing, which is basically doing an undersketch in a different color, and then doing the final sketch in pencil.
I guess you could say this is a different approach to the more traditional sketching in pencil and doing the final drawing in ink... But I will always be looser with a pencil~ And in this case, looser is better, because I feel like the sketch turned out 110% better than it would have without an undersketch.
...Has anyone else ever picked up a tip like this and had a sudden epiphany about it?

It's actually quite a well known sketch technique X'D; Though I never use it caus eI kind of like my base lines, they add a little life to my generally dead looking drawing and thus I am greatful to it XD

I drew also sometimes first with coloured pens and then with a pencil...I survive with tips from other Da's XD! Otherwise nobody would look at my pics XDD!

I have some blue and red pencils which I think are supposed to be for undersketching or whatnot. Maybe I should try it out.

tip's well... layer things or media according to the capacity of the support paper, always flip it or draw in both side's to correct errors... don't do lines that are not needed and have no fear of going from a a5 to a a1 if needed

What a fantastic idea, adding splashes of color to a pencil sketch, and not necessarily the colors it would be normally... I've added very vivid intense color to one aspect (such as lips) to an otherwise monochrome black and white ink drawing to great dramatic effect. (one of those techniques they like to teach you in art class) This is a lovely take on that classic method, I love it.

actually yes I have, about the under sketch thing. only mine was the opposite; light pencil lines with colored pencil over.
anyway the effects of the under sketch were flattering on the drawing.
