Description
This is a commission for Stephanie of her characters Haize and Caeruleus~ from AX. Don't shoot meee~ I'm still working on commissions!! *dies**cough*
Anyways~ the reason why I named this piece discovery...other than the fact that I can't think of a creative title to save my life, is because i really did learn something new while drawing this. I actually picked it up from what *tobiee and =Orenji-kun were doing, which is basically doing an undersketch in a different color, and then doing the final sketch in pencil.
I guess you could say this is a different approach to the more traditional sketching in pencil and doing the final drawing in ink... But I will always be looser with a pencil~ And in this case, looser is better, because I feel like the sketch turned out 110% better than it would have without an undersketch.
...Has anyone else ever picked up a tip like this and had a sudden epiphany about it?

XD; Actually, that's pretty funny. Is exactly what I do. Except, I didn't know other people did that too. ^_^; Rather than with a pencil sketch, I do it with my ink sketches. I use red pen to sketch something, and then I do black ink over it. Similar to what you're talking about here. I should try it with pencil too.

I don't understand what you mean by an "undersketch"...like you drew it first in one color, then drew over it to get thickness in certain places?
Whatver you did (sorry, I'm an idiot sometimes) it has a very nice effect ^^

I do the same thing with colour. It's actually common in animation (I studied it for a mere four months before deciding that I hated animating) and a lot of animators get in the habit of doing it for all their drawings. The original intent is to only keep the dark lines, but sometimes (like here) the under-colour ends up giving a very nice effect.

Nice work. Tried that method before with my friend's tablet since it'd be easier to see the undersketch. Sad I don't have one myself. I had so much fun with it. And yea, I know what you meant by looser, I prefer to use pencil than pen.

That is just such a gorgeous image! Everything about it is beautiful - the poses, expressions, clothes, your style, shading, the colouring, everything! I wish I could draw like that!
I've kind of had an epiphany about drawing with inks - I thought I was too sucky to ever graduate from pencil, but I taught myself to ink in a summer. Most recently I invented a new style with markers that's fast becoming my trademark.
I'll try that technique and let you know if I have an epiphany over it! In the meantime, excellent job!
