Description This is a commission for Stephanie of her characters Haize and Caeruleus~ from AX. Don't shoot meee~ I'm still working on commissions!! *dies*

*cough*

Anyways~ the reason why I named this piece discovery...other than the fact that I can't think of a creative title to save my life, is because i really did learn something new while drawing this. I actually picked it up from what *tobiee and =Orenji-kun were doing, which is basically doing an undersketch in a different color, and then doing the final sketch in pencil.

I guess you could say this is a different approach to the more traditional sketching in pencil and doing the final drawing in ink... But I will always be looser with a pencil~ And in this case, looser is better, because I feel like the sketch turned out 110% better than it would have without an undersketch.

...Has anyone else ever picked up a tip like this and had a sudden epiphany about it?

In classical animation they do the same, I personally like to use my blue pencil first. It's a good habit to get in to.

And then what happens if you f* up really bad w/ the other color..? Its been my experience that funky colored pencils don't erase easily....

The trick is to draw really lightly and loosely with the colored pencil. Its ok if the line you put down isn't that great because it won't be the final line.

...if you draw lightly, you shouldn't have a problem erasing the colored pencil.

Ahhhaaah. Is it more advantageous to draw with pencil as far as putting the picture into Photoshop and coloring it than it is with ink as well?

Oh yes, definitely.
I searched around for tips when I first got my tablet and I learned a helluva lot from great artists.
Congratulations on your new found strategy! xD

this is beautiful, actually
the red lines really accent the grayish pencil lines
could be a finished piece^u^

I have epiphanies all the time, but more philosophical than artistic

Hmm~~ I've never done that before It's pretty creative~ In what ways does it help the sketch? I think this picture is really beautiful, though~ *__* I love the way you've drawn the hair and their expressions~~ They are both very dramatic in appearance and both have a nice vibe about them~ :3 I also like the way you've drawn their outfits~ *_* Very lovely~! >3<

I've heard of that tech. It's what most proffesional artists do, I think. (Like Disney?? forgot) XDDD hehehe! but they use blue... but i don't think that really matters....
