Good portrayal! More loyal to the book.

I like the movie on its own though. Its satirical approach is priceless and not a common thing.

Amazing work what you did to the bugs, their much intimidating and somewhat robotic.

You even gave the humans armor, hopefully its effective now rather than the movie...

Also, they have a walker behind them, that's cute...

Anyways, amazing art!

Me too. Nice work man!Β  The bugs in the book were more of a technological species unlike humans, not a purely bug-like species like in the movie...

This is awesome and I agree with you. My hopes are really up for a Starship Troopers movie based more on the book after seeing Edge of Tomorrow with their awesome power suits.

EXCELLENT ARTWORK INDEED!

And one of the few that show the Bugs similar to what is in the Book.Β  A Technologically advanced species that used advanced weapons.

To paraphrase the book:

"Dumb races don't build starships."

Starship Troopers Invasion is kinda like this, but less open combat and more Dead Space.

The ironic thing is that this looks less like Starship Troopers and more like StarCraft combined with Warhammer 40K.

Actually, the book the movie is based on had the soldiers in armored suits, kind of like in Starcraft.Β

ghostic89 In reply to LucislionXV [2014-09-05 05:34:00 +0000 UTC]

No, the irony is that it is the other way around, the Tyranids were based on the Arachnids from Starship Troopers, down to the use of beam weaponry and mixed with some other Alien franchises. Also, the term 'Space Marines' with power armour was coined from the Heinlein, the writer of 'Starship Troopers' although it was used in his earlier novels - the Mobile Infantry with their Marauder Powersuit in the novel they weren't explicitly called that; its just that the most infamous medium people know were the movies thatΒ  they thought it was originally like that in the novels. Going on a little bit further, Warhammer 40k borrowed heavily from the scifi novel Dune, from political structure, ban on AI/computers from a war they had with them, Mentats are Servitors in dune and terms along with their function like 'God Emperor', 'Navigators,', 'Imperium of Man', 'Lasgun' etc.

TarienCole In reply to BurningResurrection [2014-08-23 18:44:12 +0000 UTC]

Umm no. The book Starship Trooper only predates Warhammer by a generation. So if you want to claim one copied the other, you have it backwards.

Not that every space opera that uses combat has to be the same as something else.

TarienCole In reply to BurningResurrection [2014-08-24 17:39:47 +0000 UTC]

And where did 40k get its inspiration? Even Alien(s) did the same thing, before 40k. And Cameron made the Marines in the second movie read...Starship Troopers.

Starship Troopers is the genesis of the others. By over a generation, Heinlein came first. *They* look like *it.*Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BurningResurrection In reply to TarienCole [2014-08-25 07:11:57 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I em aware that Starship Troopers was one of the sources of inspiration for WarhammerΒ
The others were Dune, the Cthulhu mythos, Solomon Kane, and the Elric sagaΒ

However the Warhammer Space Marines, who's design is used in this picture, have more roots in Dune, than in Starship TroopersΒ

The Starship Troopers influence mostly went into the Imperial GuardΒ

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TarienCole In reply to BurningResurrection [2014-08-25 10:52:59 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. That's why the "Starship Troopers" were called..."Space Marines."

The Space Marines in Warhammer aren't Janisaries, which is what the Imperial Troops in Dune were analog to.Β
