Description I’ve always loved robots and whilst my previous attempt to create an army of them failed I couldn’t help but want to include a unit of Khalophis’ Cataphract robots from the novel in my army.

I guess I’ll start with the main body; the first thing I did was add a joint between the epic knight titan torso and Stealthsuit legs to increase it’s height using a part of a Necron destroyer’s spine. I reused the head design from my old project using a Cadian helmet and pulse rifle tip as it adds more posing options and makes it look even less human.
The Storm bolter is the from the grey knight terminators, the original plan was to place a chapterhouse combi weapon underneath but I instead went with a grenade launcher, I also added the smaller Necron spine bit to allow me the option to rotate the weapon.
I refused to have the robot holding anything as it should be built in so I converted the sword from a lightning claw based off the golden soldier’s blades from Hellboy 2. I did cut a triangle shape from plasticard but then lost it, luckily I found a much better solution by sticking together a pair of Falchions. Lastly I added the shield to look a power generator for the weapon and a defensive shield for parrying.
One final addition to the model was the 2nd weapon as most robots I’ve seen in the art books have a shoulder mounted weapon so I added one just for show, I’m also thinking of making a few with the weapon on standby (bottom right of the image).

The model will be painted using regal blue and gold as stated in the novel like the current (chaos) thousand sons.

Looks very good, I'd say it takes the best of the Zanatorian bots and runs with the design. Think it manages to avoid looking like a suit as sometimes happens.

My one recommendation is to make the pelvis bigger and less obviously tau in origin. One IDE on how to do so is to use a jump pack mi us the vents, the tubes and engine bits would fill it in nicely.

I'd try two things. First cut the knees off bwlow the thigh and reverse everything below the thigh. This will fake it have a more robotic stabile look and it will look less like a robot with a dudes legs. For the waist you could take a spare space marine torso front and turn it so the back is facing down. Then cut it do that the sides of the chest sit on top of the hips and look like additional armor/mechanical housings for the servos of the hips. That should help make them stand out and not seem like a robot tacked into a guys' legs.

You've certainly got the feel of the classic citadel imperial robots. Great work.

I like the way you salvage bits from all over the place for your conversions then somehow get them to all gel together like its always been that way
