I actually started this last year when I picked Ocarina of Time for my 3DS and I realized Princess Ruto actually looked quite pretty, for a Zora that is. I was always kind of a fan of how cute she acted around Link. So I decided to give them a dip through what we can presume to be Lake Hyrule. Yes Link should probably be wearing the blue tunic, but his green is too iconic, and maybe Ruto is helping with the oxygen supply
All in all, I really enjoyed doing this piece. It was a lot of fun and I learned a lot doing it. Took around 40 hours I think (I really need to work on drawing faster) in Photoshop with my Intuos3.

Ruto (and zoras in general) allways been a fav of mine and this surely is a gorgeus renderation!
a little tad differ,but still remain true to the original concept look of her ^^
Also this Link dosn't look much like the OOT one,but rather more like the old one from Snes/gameboy titles,looking at his hairstyle - and a bit mixed with TP (the cloth with chainmail)
Everything in it is just purely awesome!

The level of detail you have is pretty astounding. Safe to say I've never seen anything like it. Makes me wonder if you can capture the suspense of the appearance of Ganon looming over Link and Zelda. Though from what I see, you could capture it well.
Overall, a beautiful way to capture Link and Ruto. Though the added chainmail makes me wonder if Link might be a bit uncomfortable in the water.
Lastly, did you play OOT on the 64 as well, or is it your first time playing?

i played it on the 64, on an emulator during class, and then the 3ds XD honestly, 3ds iteration was beautiful

I played it on the 64, and the Gamecube when they came out with the collection disc that had every Zelda game from the very first original NES Zelda, to Majora's Mask. Played the hell out of Ocarina of Time when it first came out though. Safe to say it's my favorite game, even now.
I plan to get it, and a 3DS once I've put enough money together for them. I've heard the remastered graphics tell the OOT story better than the 64 and Gamecube ever could've due to how much better they are. And when I saw some of the gameplay, I believed it.
The fight between Link and Ganon will always be known as a very savage final boss fight, and to see it drawn with the same detail, would by far be a gift to all fans of Zelda worldwide.

i totally forgot about master quest on the gamecube! My brother and I pre-ordered wind waker back then just to get it XD I'd say its definitely one of my favorites still too.
its true. It's actually really nice how much better the graphics are but still retains the same charm.

I got Wind Waker on my birthday, after it came out. Played it most of the summer that year too. Heheh.

Hmm, I'm torn about how you made up Links hair. On one hand its realistic, but on the other it's a touch girly and I think more iconic if it was more shapely and stiff with it's original shape. Ahh, gray opinions. ><
I love how you did Ruto though. I always thought she a bit of a cute character as well, both in personality and in looks (especially comparatively).

You need the green tunic for color variation in the image. Otherwise there would be too much blue and it would seem monocromatic. The blonde hair and skin tones might not even work at that point and everything would need to have a blue hue to it. You made the right call. Good work!

Some really good art. I think the reason Ruto has no head-fin thingy is that unlike most Zora, she regularly moves around in the game engine. The player would expect the head-fin thingy to move while she walks, so it was removed from her design. At least, that's my theory.
