I think it takes real skill to take a good photo of a hummingbird and having it look that good. Really good work

Thanks. I always admired pictures of the humming bird and I was always like...what does it take to shoot a picture like that. No. 1 to get an effect like that is a telephoto lens. And then I just gave it a shot. Looks like it turned out pretty good.
I would still crave for a better lens. But I am just a college student. Having a DSLR is a big deal itself.

Your photos are so good, I could never be able to get that close to a hummingbird, enough to get a perfect shot like this. It's spectacular. I love it.

Incredible! What was your shutter speed? God, you must have taken like a thousand shots just to get this one. Well worth it! Amazing shot!

thanks!! the shutter speed was around 2000...at 400 ISO with a telephoto lens. I was around 9-10 feet far from this bird.

Frikken awesome! You must have a good camera to be able to capture that with no blured motion showing.

Thanks! The camera is Canon Rebel XT..which I think is alright. Its the lens that matters the most. However, I shot this with a 75-300 Canon USM lens which is in like a B- category. Ofcourse I used a tripod for this. Sometimes we have to shoot around 50-100 shots to get one good shot. You know what I mean?
Cheers

Yeah. I understand. In my digital photography class I take millions of pictures and like..only two come out really good. I wish we could use tripods, but for some reason we just don't own any. Also, our camera's arn't the best, so sometimes it's hard to get such detailed pictures. But I really liked that picture that you took. Good job. =]
