Awesome shot! You did this with a rebel xt? wow What lens did you use?
I want to buy a lens and I need some help. I've posted some on my journal that I've been looking around. A good lens with a really nice price, if you could help that would be great!

I agree with krash- it appears to be an immature male Anna's. If the breast were paler I would say a broad-tailed but I think Anna's is a better fit.
Good catch-any hummingbirds I ever try to get come out as a streak of green.

I absolutely LovE this photograph, you are very talented. The part that captured me was the light reflecting on it's purple feathers, gorgeous. Really.

I love the intense, yet washed out colors. The greens and the blue seem to be especially vibrant/faded.
And unlike Iceblue, I think it's perfect like this, everything blurry around it. Like it would be.
Very good.

You should try to make visible some elements of the background, like leaves or sky... Portray the bird in nature. You render so well the movement of the humming bird, his sharp wings like little blades, and his soft & warm little body, the touches of color like jewels... Harmonious composition, with the spot of green in the background, and the bird to the right.
