Yeah, I liked the old thumbnails, but there's nothing we can do about it now. DA isn't going to change it back.

Not true! There is something we can use to fix it.

True that. I had a feeling they'd just ignore every negative comment, and it seems they have..

you can turn them off o-o when in the gallery, there are these two things up in i believe the right hand side where you can switch back to the other thumbnails. it's right next to the 'slideshow' thing.

It's no use waiting for Premium to run out.
But the endless scrolling is nice!

The only thing I don't like about it, is when I'm at school or in a public place, and something inappropriate pops up, it's HUGE!

yep, the point of thumbnails (at least I feel) is to see the artwork, if you like what you see from the thumbnail, you then click it to see oh, why, the whole deviation up close! shocking! I'm going to post this all over my page
kudos~ I like your other stamps too

I usually don't fave stamps but omg you are so right! I opened DA and I fell from my chair... They are big, different size and even those margins between them are no the same size... In some of them one more picture could fit! I say - DA must fire that designer! XD

Oh, they fucking do don't they? I'm normally pretty cool with any changes they make but this just sucks.
Though it is new, so I'm holding out hope that they do something about it to at least make it look tidier.

(This isn't directed at anyone in particular, especially not prosaix, because I respect their opinions and the effort they make into making these lovely stamps. Instead, this is meant towards any of the countless commenters who will either blindly agree with the statement, or start ranting about change and the people who don't like them. Instead of spamming a lot of people's inboxes with copies of a long, drawn out message, I'mma post it ONCE. Reply or respond as you like, at your own risk.)
There's a difference between complaining and whining. The former attempts to raise awareness and drive for an opinion with merit shared by a significant amount, and can be productive and useful if used correctly. The latter is a self-indulgent waste of energy that can in fact hinder progressive movement by crating emotional or physical chaff.
Since this stamp is meant for expressing displeasure and then offering a simple way of sharing and linking that opinion between multiple people to form a significant amount (see above) while using the least amount of effort for each individual party, it belongs to the former group. If you disagree in a way that just created drama, then stop, because you're making pointless butthurt. This is why we can't have nice things.
And THAT is an actual academic and thought out response. Which takes care in creating a neutral tone. Which is hard to master.
As for a critiqe, I think the argument could use some more explanation. Saying bit thumbnais suck is one thing, but saying WHY it sucks allows for the most amount of desired change to occur. I think I can see why it was made- a thumbnail is a wonderful way to check that a composition or artwork is inherently strong- yet that can be lost when you have artworks of varying sizes. However, I think attempting to balance that effort should be studied over a longer period of time to gauge the desired impact of the actions, and compare them to the negative impacts the change may have.
Until then, simply stating a short statement without explaining it won't be as effective as saying why one feels their opinions are correct.
As for why people react to change, a lot of it is an impulsive physical reaction to just seeing something different, and is hard to not subjectify it. You may notice that a lot of stamps show up when there is change, and that is because ther is a corollary between an action and a reaction. If you have something to say, then the best way to get your ideas across is to say it in a well-organized argument in either words or art. If you're going to complain about it and push down and suffocate other people's thought-out opinions because you can't resist the impulse of hearing your own voice, then you should act like the adult you are pretending to be and put your energies towards efforts that won't betray the ideas you are trying to get across. Otherwise, don't be suprised when people single you out for the actions you made.
*takes loooooong swig of coffee*

Wow, VERY nice. See? this is what I mean- I'm just too-long winded for my own good sometimes.
I do still think that some long-term evidence of a change in behaviour would really help. But, yes- I'd rather effort be put into more community projects that useless (and ugly) cosmetic changes.
Don't sign my name up for that just yet, but I'll keep an eye on it for updates.

I like the larger thumbnails. They show enough detail so that I can see if I will be interested. It saves me time from having to click on 100 little thumbnails to find a piece that I like.
Although I always check the Daily Deviations and they have been using the variable sized thumbnails for quite a while now. I think I may be more used to them because of that.

I agree,I wish Deviantart gave us the option to make the size smaller and other people could chose to make it bigger on there own computer, That way Deviantart could keep its Big thumbnails, and the people who like the small ones (like me) could make them small.
