the problem with modern art or maybe its a plus depending on your personal oppinion is that it no longer has a solid deffinition, anything from a urinal hanging on a wall to a painting of a dot can be argued to have artistic value these days. if someone can look at that image and pull some form of inspiration from it, then it has value

here is question, someone paints a nude at the highest level of technical skill, a true masterpiece, its considered art, now someone paints that same nude in the act intercourse with an equal or greater level of skill is it suddenly no longer art?

the definition of pornography is ANYTHING of sexual content as long as its not live. the definition of art is ANYTHING that feels you with emotion. there is no fine line between the two except the ones YOU alone write up and even then there's millions that will call art the things you choose to call porn or trash or anything else.

Wikipedia and dictionary.com disagree with you. "Art is the product or process of deliberately arranging items (often with symbolic significance) in a way that influences and affects one or more of the senses, emotions, and intellect." Shitty cell-cam vag pics do not qualify in this category. Try to tell any art history or art appreciation teacher there's no fine line besides the one I make up and see what they say. There is a definite line between pornography and art.
I draw pictures, but I do not consider myself an artist, because what I draw has no deeper meaning or any symbolic significance. It's just what you see. They are pictures, they are not art.

I think the only reason I hate 'artistic nude' on this site is the EXTREME quantity of it, especially on the front page...I swear theres one nude to every 3 non-nude pics...
Then most of them are just a girl posing nekkid and people go on about how the shadows of her figure is the art, or tieing a girl to a table and gagging her well her belly is so skinny its caving in is ART. Bullshit its porn with some kind of erotic theme and I wouldn't care so much if it wasn't in excess...but there is just so much of it.
I came to Deviantart for more ART: drawings, creative photos, 3D models even! Not to find 60% of it pretty much be porn...isn't that what porn sites and newgrounds is all about?

It depends on if it breaks the rules or not. Deviant Art has full say in what it wants to allow. Unfortunately those rules are rarely enforced, nor are the exceptions spelled out at all. So one can never really be sure what is allowed and what isn't. An erect penis is not allowed, no matter how artful they are presented, according to the rules, but they still remain all over the place.

It's not that the rules aren't enforced, it's just every time something with nudity makes the front page lots of people complain about "porn" being posted and report it so the moderators have to look at the same thing over and over and over and it takes a long time for the actual porn to get taken down. The was a comment about 1 page back where the person was complaining about how "sick" they were of "reporting crap". I would be willing to bet most of the stuff they reported didn't actually violate the rules, it was just something they didn't like.
