The gladiator, filled with glory and driven by bloodlust from the first kill of the day charges forth in search of new foes to match his blade against.Wanted to do something different this time around. Practiced lighting and shadows.

Awesome foreshorstening on the retracted leg, and kudos on the bloodspatter. Just a note, the raised foot seems to be getting a hihglight from a direction that you've already ascribed shadows to. Maybe punch it up by darkening it? just a suggestion.

cool shit man. Nice subtle lighting, cool textures, dynamic picture that speaks a small story. No element of the picture has been left wanting, the rendering of the gladiator's shield, helmet and armour is excellent.

Okay, now this I've gotta like.
You did a fine job with the lighting for this: it is harsh, brutal - much like the life of a gladiator.
The anatomy is splendid, I think. My only concern is the awkwardness of that lone corpse back there, but that's an issue with this composition. I think it's safe to say you're ascending to artistic godhood.
