Description
Philadelphia Zoo - 07/12/2002It's a very rare day that I might feel as lazy as this fella looks, but man, does he look so comfortable like this.
I really love red panda's, yet even at zoos, it's often so difficult to get a good shot of them. They usually find places to hide so that all you see is a ball of fur somewhere up in a tree. But after getting a picture like this one, I can't really complain much anymore. I'm still hoping to get back there again next summer, and find some more great shots to take of him.

Heh. Yeah, he seemed too lazy to even worry about retracting his claws.
Thanks for the comments. I'm glad you liked the pic.

By the time winter is coming to an end, I'm usually pretty sick of snow (well, mostly having to deal with shovelling out the car and then people stealing your parking spot), but there is an amazing beauty to a scenery filled with freshly fallen snow. As long as I have the choice, I'll always live somewhere where it snows at least part of the year.

Yeah, that would be the same one. I know I won't be getting the Canon until Summer of next year at the earliest, but there's not too much to take pictures of during the winter anyway. Though one of the local zoos is open all year round, and they have some tigers. So, I'm hoping to get some Tigers in snow pictures.

hehe. Comfy? Something tells me that he's about as comfortable as he can get from the look of him. They are really cute animals. I'm actually surprised that you don't see them represented in any of the newspaper comics that have animals as their main characters. I guess they prefer sticking with animals such as dogs and cats, which people can more readily associate with, rather than a cuteness factor.

they should use them for comics or something. he's soooo soooo cute!!! (currently has him as a background) i just adore how he looks like a cross over between a bear and a racoon... it's just... inspiring i guess... i was wondering though, how big is he? like... big big or little... or... ya

Heh. These guys aren't that big in relation to bears. He's closer to the size of a racoon.

Well, bigger than a small dog.
But no, they only get to around 2 feet long or so. Of course, that doesn't make them any less adorable.

Thanks, I hope (My dad says its Repaired) that My SLR is ok... I had to us a 2.1 Digital Cannon. You zoom in and the thing Pixilated!

I have that problem with a Kodak digital camera. I can't even turn the digital zoom feature on because it pixelates so badly. But my Olympus is one of those that has the long lens, offering a 10x optical zoom and when I use the 2.1x digital zoom, there is amazingly little pixelation. The biggest drawback is that it only has a 2.1 megapixel resolution. I'm saving up for a Canon EOS digital body, which uses interchangable lenses. I can only imagine what I can do with one of those and an assortment of quality lenses at an 8 megapixel capture resolution.

Thanks. At that time, I was using a Canon EOS, SLR film camera, though I don't recall what size lense I had connected. Most of my more recent pictures are taken with an Olympus C-2100 digital camera.
I really do love going to zoos, because you never really know what you'll see. Yeah, you might know that you'll see a lion, but if the timing is right, the lion may be doing something interesting at that particular moment, allowing you to catch it on film. Too many people I know frown at going to a zoo too often, thinking that there's nothing new to see. I just consider it as their loss.
I hope you have a wonderful time when you get to the zoo next.
