Description
It's a sketchy picture of a... thing! Yes!It's neither undead nor dragon. And it probably eats bones.
I'm not entirely happy with it, but I got bored after working on it for half an hour and just left it at this. (I thought it was AT LEAST an hour, but apparently I started it at 9:31 and 'finished' it at 10:03 (according to the file stats)... Wow, such patience I have! o_O)
Anyway, I'm probably going to try to draw something better now and might scrap this later maybe!
(lol it eats bones)

Oh the irony! A bony creature that devours bones!
I would certainly not shake it's "hand"

For being quick and sketchy, I must say I think it's very nice to look at. Y'know, I always try and paint/draw things like this (quick and sketchy..), but I ALWAYS end up putting little details a little bit of everywhere, and it uses to end up very, very tidy looking. Which I dislike (at times). Some art actually comes out better like this. Oh well, we all must learn new things I suppose. Would you mind if I use your artwork as a teacher?

When I was little, I used to spend hours and hours working on a single picture, adding so many, many details because I loved details... And I couldn't stand it when lines weren't neat, either.
I don't even know WHAT changed, but now I can't spend more than an hour on a picture without getting bored, and I focus on the overall effect rather than details, and am so SKETCHY about things...
But that's just what comes naturally to me now. I think the best way to make art is to just do what you're comfortable with and what comes naturally to you and enjoy the process of actually *creating* the art and focus on that more than the end result... Of course, only YOU can enjoy the process while everyone else only gets the end result... hm.
I like detailed art though; I just don't have the patience to create it myself!
Anyway, I'm totally rambling sort of irrelevantly. What AM I trying to say? o_O

I have no clue, but some rambling is interesting. I think you had a good point there, it's probably better to do something you feel comfortable with. In artwork, you can be yourself and do what you like, you don't have to pretend that you're anything else but what you are. So why am I even trying to do sketchy drawings and paintings? Probably because I want to improve my skills. Ah well, practice might help in the end. Someday. And now I don't know what I'm trying to say either..

So many people want to just "improve their skills" and draw mainly for that purpose, and want advanced critique telling them how they can "improve"... I suppose I'm odd that I never really draw to "improve", instead letting myself improve naturally over time (there's a difference between that and actually TRYING to improve, I suppose)...
Uh... isn't that interesting and totally relevant?! o_O

I use to do a little bit of both. I sometimes try and use new techniques, because I want to improve, and because it's nice to try something new. But it would be hell boring to just do that all the time, and not do things you're really good at. It's such a nice feeling to have a little speciality that you're very good at, rather than just be half good at many things..

Heh... I often wonder if I actually have a "specialty" skill at all... I mean, some people are definitely Artists, some are definitely Musicians, etc... Me, though... I'm a composer, a visual artist, a programmer, a writer (of sorts; my games have stories that need to be written!), etc, etc. A creative polymath. But I'm not really *brilliant* at any of those things... am I? o_O
HMMM!
(And you were reffering to art styles/techniques specifically, but that came to mind anyway apparently!)

Pfff, I think you're a lot better than average when it comes to all these things! Being totally average when it comes to everything would be boring, but since you aren't, you probably don't need to worry. I suppose.

It's pretty rough, but the design is good. Is it going to be in Chapter II of Mardek?

MY EXISTENCE DOES NOT REVOLVE AROUND MARDEK! o_O
Though this probably WILL be in that OTHER game of mine...

But the one I was referring to in particular isn't released or even close to release yet, so I won't say any more about it!

The concept is nice and it's VERY well drawn for only half an hour of work. I have to say, my favorite part of the piece is the overall sketchiness of the character, and the dark colors that give it kind of an ominous feeling.

Hu hu hu x3 I think the sketchiness of it adds to the character, which looks AWESOME. :]
