Description
Another sketchy concept thing! This is a character from my game, MARDEK. She's an attention-seeking teenage girl who dresses provocatively and flirts because she believes that only sexy girls can go on adventures and be the heroes; basically I'm going to use her to play around with the stereotypes of generic female JRPG protagonists, as well as gender roles and expectations and, eventually, how women shouldn't need to look 'hot' in order to have a leading role... but that's a long way off yet. Some notes:
- The thing she's wearing around her waist is a sarong; being a nerdy guy who doesn't get out much, I didn't know what they were called until I learned from a video game the other day!!
- Her top is basically just a single long ribbon, which has a hoop thing on one end. The other end passes through the hoop and flows down to the floor.
- All characters in my game have a meaningful 'motto' that succinctly expresses their personality and the 'dream' that drives them forwards... Hers is "You can't not notice a flame so hot it burns blue~!"
- Her 'sentiment' (sort of like emotion-elements) is Courage, which is represented by flames (she was Water in the original).
- She's of the 'Bold' race, who have lion-like noses, a cleft in their upper lip, and furry ears... though her lion-nose is downplayed to accentuate the 'sexy' look.
- The two coloured bands on her arm are family tattoos, which everyone in the Alora Fane world has. The top colour is inherited from the mother, and the bottom from the father.
- Her name is pronounced 'el-OO-ee-en'.
- I really need to practise drawing legs and feet! Agh!!

I know people who wear sarongs, both men and women, and usually they wear...longer...sheets of fabric. ...Traditionally worn with nothing underneath. Just thought you might want to know.
Also, the Pacifican, or more commonly refferd to as Polyneisan, peoples all seem to share similar clothing styles, though they differ from island to island. My perspective is taken from the Indian version, but I have no doubt that the Indonesian, Malaysian, and Hawaiian styles would differ greatly.
Very interesting to observe actually.

Nice character, I love her color scheme!
Also I think it's great that you want to play with the stereotype role of women. Games really need more strong women instead of "sexy love interests".

Making varied and interesting female characters is one of the main aims of this game I'm currently making!
This one wasn't the best example to start with since she's the only character who looks sexualised... o_O
How female players will feel about my characters is one of my main thoughts as I design them, though!

I'm glad you put so much thought into your games and characters. The gaming world needs more people like you.
