At last! Finally! Chapter 2 is here!
Featuring a LOT more content than the first chapter, and many improvements to the Engine, too!
Be sure to read the in-game instructions so then you know how to play it.
This is a story-driven RPG. The action is there to move the story along, rather than the other way around. There's a lot of dialogue; if you're going to SKIP it all, why bother playing an RPG at all?
As with last time, almost everything in this game is made by me.
I drew and animated everything, did all the coding, and composed all the music. Only the sound effects were not made by me; I got those from some free sound effects site (years ago; I can't remember what site it WAS anymore...).
Since I composed all the music myself, and put a lot of care and effort into it, I'd like to know what people think of the music!
As well as the rest of the game, of course.
Detailed feedback is GREATLY appreciated, even if I don't respond to tell you so!
There may still be bugs! Tell me if you find any so then I can correct them!

A small bug or glitch or what ever you call it, happened while I was playing, it said Error was talking instead of the guy that's actually 4 in the mine.

hey pseudolonewolf......i just found a small problem with the game.....not nessaserily a glitch....but when ur in a shop and wish to see the descriptions of items....they come up all blurry and parts of the letters are missing.......just a wierd thing ya know....and i was wondering if in next game you can fix it

This is great!
I had a saving problem at some point, right after I beat the Lake Hag, and when I reloaded it send me back to the level before the Lake Hag.
So I stopped playing for now, but I'll come back and finish this for sure!

I found something!
If you press the F key after you load the game or start a new game, you can see the FPS rate.

When I die and try to load afterwards The menu screen pops up on the right side. If I click on Party then the game loads properly, but if I use Z to exit out I sometimes can't move. For example the people will be standing in a body of water. Also, earlier, I had died while fighting the Bandit leader and when I loaded it again he was gone, but Steele was still following me around and I couldn't find the other two recruits. I went back to the castle and it went through the dialog as if I had beaten the leader and Steele was dead (he HAD disappeared when I entered the castle, I'll admit). Lucky for me I've played this before so I knew what happened.
The game is marvelous and I can't wait to see what else you'll come up with. The story is intriguing and I love the battle system. Aside from a few glitches (like the ones I've mentioned) and the fact that mostly everyone has the same face (save for a few people) with different hair, roughly, I have nothing against the game. Keep up the good work! ^_^

i found a bug i died in the tainted grotto battling world saviors and respawned in the green stuff cant move

Are you supposed to be able to change Emela's element? I had her attack herself with Lightning, and the little circle below her indicated that she was Air for the entire battle that it happened in. The same went for the Stonesplosion, Bubble, and Flame attacks, too.

the tainted grotto path is blocked, its the only way to go forward and the map shows it to go that way, just thought it would inform you about the error on floor b2

I forgot to mention, I was kind of surprised how hard some bosses were and easy others were. Like I thought Moric was a lot easier than I expected, but the four other heros you have to fight in the tainted grotto were hard! I had to play that battle probably 10 times before I beat them (and then I think it was mostly luck).

This is one of the best flash games I've ever played. You truly did think of everything while making it right down to the light flickering in the caves to the characters shifting their feet while waiting to attack, it was all there. Some of my favourite things were the text, like when Deugan tells Mardek to open the menu with "Enter" and Mardek says "What's a menu?" I always wondered why their aren't more responses like that in games, that would be my response!
The music was great, it fit with the theme of the game, completely original, and I didn't get tired of it after a while like I do with most flash game music.
I can't wait for future chapters to come out!

Really loving the game; the storyline is well thoughtout and the ideas behind it make me laugh at times, how they describe the menu and such. My only problem with this chapter that I didn't have with the last it that there doesn't seem to be the back button on the menus there was on the last chapter? As in, when I click on something such as the player stats in battle, the item screen, or skills/inventory, I can't then get back to the previous screen... I've had to refresh the page a few times in order to get off that screen.
But I really love the game so far, and I hope you continue!

Ahhh...1 full year since Ch 2 was released, time for Ch 3 maybe? ;D J/k, I just finished playing Ch 2 and was really looking forward to the next installment.
Some C&C: The inventory system seems overly complicated; maybe too many of the other RPGs I've played didn't section off the items like this, but I'm not sure why you think this is necessary?
I also got the Verhn Smite I bug, so not sure if it is completely fixed.
I adore the detail in story line, the characters (it's about time RPGs poked fun at themselves!), the battle system, the monsters, and I really quite liked a lot of the music! Which is a rare feat, since I get annoyed with a lot of these sort of repetitive tunes.
One last thing...are you REALLY going to make 8 Chapters? o_o

I'm using Firefox, and it crashed twice on me in the Gem Mines when I used a reaction. I'm using the S key to block, if that helps any. The game works fine in Southwood and the sewers.
It's an amazing game, but it's hard to play it when it crashes so easily.

Ah, finally got to move on. The window was too big, apparently, and my computer was somehow overloaded from a single flash game. o_O
As for critique on the game... the menu system was slightly difficult to use. Enter, if it brings up the first menu, should act as another X key for the rest, probably. I have the habit of using enter to move through menus, which just makes me exit out. Also, a, s, w, d, e, z, x, a, p, up, down, left, right, and enter is entirely too many keys to use for a menu. Up, down, enter, and backspace should really be everything. As an example, you could use up and down to navigate; double enter to use action skills; single enter and up/down to scroll through a, s, d, and e for reaction skills; and a single, complete window for items instead of three.
And is there some way to view party members' reaction keys in combat? When new party members pop in, it takes some annoying trial and error to figure out what's bound to each key.
Excellent job on the story and music, however. I love the random citizens' comments.

Ah, I have always like final fantasy games, but you did even better. The whole system seems perfect and it plays out well. You sort of motivated me to make my own but I ussually only go for a two hour coding spree, and then become too lazy to fix any of it and add stuff. Keep doing work man. The reaction keys and the ability gaining is real cool.

I don't know why, but it made me laugh when the leader of the bandits used a gun. Maybe its just the sheer brilliance of the simplicity.

just wanted to say i enjoyed playing this game, one of the most entertaining flash game RPG's i've come across over the entire net, great story, great system nicely setup.
some of the skill ability functions in the menu confused me a bit, like i didn't know whoat A,S,D did. but that didn't get in the way of the game much.
I look forward to seeing more chapters if and when they come about, rest assured i'll be playing them.

This is the most brilliant game I have ever played! I cannot believe the effort that went into this. It\'s really hard to find a good game with a unique story line and likeable characters. My sister and I are hooked. Bravo, pseudolonewolf.

Your game is awesome. I love the system of elements and how you learn your skills from items and have to practice them. The game has some odd humor too that makes me smile. I did find a bug though that had me starting with 50+ copper rings, needless to say I wore some and cashed all the rest.

You know, I was playing this on Kongregate.com when I realized that I watch you here.
I ran into a bug or something when I was in the cave. Somehow, when I was starting the fight with the bandits, at the same time it started a fight with monsters in the cave. The bugs and bandits were kind of standing in the same place, and when I finally killed the bugs, nothing else would happen so in the end I had to kill myself and start over.
It was after loading a game. I tried once again, and then everything seemed to just freeze on me and nothing would happen.
Besides these issues, I love the games so far.

Excellent, very playable game in the classic style. The music reminds me of the older Ultima games, even if the play doesn't. The humor worked well too. I didn't run into any bugs worth noting.
The long conversations in the beginning were the only irritating part. It would be one thing if all that was necessary to establish the characters or move the plot along, but it really wasn't. Meh. Your game, it's fun, it's free. You can say whatever the hell you want.
Along with everyone else, I look forward to the third.

I don't know if anyone else is having this problem, but my guys keep freaking out in the sewers (level one), and will only move one direction. I refreashed the browser, and now their stuck in the door.
