Lots of deep stuff in this one, most of which I too wish, such as the remembered thing.

I really want to speak Japanese fluently
I get drunk easily, therefore I do not drink
Martial arts is a lifestyle and philosophy
*suddenly wants to ask you which styles you practiced and under which teachers*

Just because I take an interest in the language and culture doesn't mean I'm a weeaboo.
You don't drink?
I've done Taekwondo (A.T.I, Zlatan Jovanoh), kickboxing (A.T.I again, Louis Aguila and my older brother who is an instructor), muay thai (A guy called Bill, who has apparently trained world champions :0) and my dad taught me to box. I also learned how to use the staff from my brother and the spear and sword from one of my friends. I'm working on merging all the styles into something unique that works for myself, influenced a bit by Jeet Kun Do.

But sweeping generalizations are fun!
Nope. And it's quite refreshing to see a non-drinking white Aussie as well!
I can't say I'm familar with the famous faces outside of the Chinese and Japanese styles. I take it the spear is the Chinese one with the little fluffy thing below the blade, and the sword is the Chinese rapier? Good luck with the style merging, and I'm assuming you are influenced by the Jeet Kune Do concept since that technically is all it really is and not a style.
I was trained in Wing Chun (though as you can see from my userpage I prefer to use the Mandarin name), it's always nice to talk the martial arts with a fellow practitioner.

I think so, but I'm not actually familiar with the actual design of the weapons themselves as I trained with bokken and ordinary ratten staves. I was taught a bit of Chinese spear form and how to duel wield (which I couldn't do very well) as well as using a short sword, one-handed. Unfortunately when it comes to weapons, while I've been taught the various stances and forms (defensive, neutral, aggressive, etc) I haven't been able to develop my own personal style yet. I'm still pretty rough with my technique. ;;
Wing Chun? I've heard about that, what style does it entail? I've personally always wanted to try Tai-Chi, personally. Would give me a nice chance to explore a calm and meditative martial arts rather than the explosive, aggressive stuff I'm used to.

Very basically, Wing Chun relies mostly on upper body techniques and striking. It takes quite a linear approach, using the shortest distances and effort possible to neutralize a foe. I remember Wikipedia has quite a good summary of it.
Tai Chi is good, but is one of the hardest to learn! Make sure you find someone who has mastered its combat application, as opposed to those who treat it as merely a fancy kind of yoga and healthcare routine, these guys are unfortunately very common indeed.

Hmm, sounds like the opposite of Taekwondo (which focuses primarily on kicking, and the techniques are quite flashy).
Yeah, I'll need to start scouting around. It would help me because I've been trying really hard to adopt the 'water' element to my fighting style; as in, going with the flow and being like water as opposed to the fire alternative that I'm too accustomed to. ._.; (Sorry, I categorise certain fighting manners into elements, a habit I got from a friend )
