Description The deckplan schematic of the Archer-class showed what appear to be a couple of motorcycle-like vehicles in its cargo hold, for ground transportation when the ship is landed. I found a very nice mesh of Flynn's lightcycle from TRON: Legacy that I think looks perfectly in keeping with the design ethic of Star Trek, and just couldn't resist using it. However, it's such a high-res model (700k+ polys!) that even one bogs down Poser - so of course I put two in there ... and then left home for a few hours ... .

EDIT: Recreated the image, after tweaking the materials, lighting and positions slightly.

Yes but for recon it will not work as a off road motorcycle.  But for the city, or urban areas, the saying "Eat My Dust" rings a bell.  Also did you know that they are being build for real life.  Custom made but real.

Federation approved and Starfleet built Lightcycles, Kirk or Picard would have a field day with these bikes.

Haha , like the paint job on the bike, especially the dark sides of the front wheel. Thanks for the credit on the bike, and sorry that its so poly heavy. well you have the shape now so feel free to scale down the polys

Love the idea. Much better than the one from ST XI. Would work even better, though, in a 24th century setting (with updated stripes), methinks. Either way, this is awesome. Kudos!

This is what Arcass found online; I don't know to whom the credit belongs, besides Masao Okazaki for the original artwork (I don't know if he also added the deck layout to it): [link]

I almost wish those weren't TRON bikes... because they look so damn cool! Maybe we should try to make out own TRON-inspired model? 'Course I say "we", which means I'd love to help do design and textures But damn - I think we'd be hard pressed to make something that looks as cool as this! I like it!!!

Well, I think pretty much the same thing - they're very cool, but they're also system hogs (no pun intended ),so something needs to be created, and if a new model is gonna get built, it might as well be unique. But nothing says it can't be inspired by the Flynn cycle .

Well I'd love to design a vehicle for the role, if you want to get serious about it sometime? Maybe that can be version 3.0?

Hey, have you started playing with the dorsal hatch yet?

Yeah, it appears that voles have set up a nest in the retraction mechanism; I tried to burn them out, but the ensign had already given them names. Until we can relocate them, that hatch is gonna have to stay closed ...

Have you considered modeling a humane vole trap?

ROTFLMAO! I was just mulling that exact word - humane - in my head as I wrote that, and pondering whether it's a specist word in the context of a society in which only a portion of the citizens are human. Great minds ... and ours, too ... .

Looks great, far too few designs take the ground transport problem into account in star trek designs for landable ships. The Argo was a great one, this looks even better to my mind. Well done repurposing the lightcycle

Great...another image of yours I don't know whether to put it in my Tron folder or Star Trek folder. Thanks for that...
Other than that...LOVE IT!

Outstanding! With all these renders based on my ideas, I feel like there's a bunch of guys tramping around in my brain.

WONDERFUL!!!! You know, there's nothing that says that Sam Flynn couldn't have played some key role in developing the technology that eventually was incorporated into Starfleet.
