Akula from Ace Combat: Assault Horizon.His default shark face scheme kinda sucks, so I took some liberty with it.
Special thanks to dad for doing back-seat driving (drawing?) for the entire course of the project. Also thanks to conceptart.org and relicnews #art irc channels for critiques.
P.S. Project Aces, I expect great things from Akula

This git is by far the most irritating boss battle in any AC game ever, and only because of the plot-armor he gets. Though breaking his AI in Blue on Blue is always funny.
Otherwise, looks like he's had a run-in with someone judging by the rather well-designed airframe damage. Wouldn't say Bishop 'cause his Su-35 gets obliterated over Moscow. Excellent job all round, though to me the shark decal looks a bit...small. Hard to spot in a dogfight and would make him less recognisable for who he is.

A close second would be the Arkbird battle in AC 5.

and @Gimiglider: Markov is a bit too much of a dick and flies an overpowered plane and yet still can't win and will thus never be better than Mobius and Blaze...plus, speaking characters are overrated

Amazing detail and an amazing picture. The rain add ecen more mood, a sense of eriness to the whole thing; I love it. The only negative thing i could say about it, is that you shot yourself in the foot by moving the shark's mouth (honestly I like where Akula' shark mouth was), but as you said you took some liberty so I can't critic you for that.

looks like the PC managed to damage Akulas plane before being shot down, either that, or that's a result of flying through what's left of the PCs plane.

Is the spot on it's nose damage or part of the paint scheme? For some reason that spot is what really make this plane look legitimately shark-like.

Great job, but Namco confirmed that there won't be any superweapons in Assault Horizon, which is a letdown.
But it still looks awesome, so I'm getting it regardless. As long as it fun, that's really all I care about.

Ace Combat promises to be one of the most played games in 2011. The thriller is totally amazing and new developments. More than that, it seems that "Akula" will be the "new" Mobius 1 (or perhaps the "new" Yellow 13). Your drawing is just great, I liked it and drew the damaged plane, giving the impression that the pilot has fought great battles and continued flying. We also did an equally amazing background, the rain is doing well in the image, giving it a slightly sinister tone. Above all, do not forget the distinctive detail Akula: "It has a shark mouth on the nose" (says the thriller). Great drawing you did, congratulations.
