looks like something you would see in the call of duty black ops missions when it rains like this.
Very impressive indeed!

Why do war machines have to be so beautiful? They are built to kill yet it would make me sad to see these aircraft in a scrap yard.

MiG-23, a true marvel of engineering!
And the rain creates quite the mood. Well done indeed!

I think knowing even a little bit about how these things work makes them seem all the more wonderful.

That is absolutely true! When air shows of historical planes come around, I am right there in the middle of it all. If no tours are being offered, I find myself leading tours through the planes (no charge of course). You cannot put a price on history. And knowing everything you can about the plane makes history more real. It gives you something you can parallel your own life to, and gives you a whole new respect for the people that had to (or got to) use these planes.
This is what makes life worth living.

Wow you really like planes eh? The fact that you give tours through them just shows it. That was very interesting to read by the way, I love it when people talk about what makes them passionate.

Like is quite the understatement. Even from the start of my life, aviation has been one of the only true loves of my life. The others being musik, and my daughter. And this tends to show in my own Deviations; I try to give a brief description of the aeroplane, and end up writing a good page worth of lecture about the plane, its capabilities, and its entire history. Once I get going, I just cannot stop!

Another epic scene from the master of russian hardware !
You did an excellent job with the wet materials. Are the lights rendered or post-processed?

Thanx! The overal lightning from lights is rendered, but the fog-light effects are post processed

A really nice picture. I am not very familiar with this plane, but this is what I think I see when I look at the picture:
Canopy up, nose wheel turned, suggests taxiing. Leading edge slats extended, flaps extended, air brakes open, suggests landing roll just completed. What I am not sure about is the angle of sweep for the wings. Presumably they should be full forward. I think the wings match swing wise, but they don't seem to be very far forward. Do all these things fit the plane?
I like the grass on the ground, and the transports in the background. And I like the way the roundness of the nose gives way to the more vertical lines of the rest of the fuselage. The engine inlet duct makes a great background to see the rain pelt down. But wouldn't the intake distort the path of the rain as it sucks air in? Sorry, I don't mean to be so critical. It is a really cool picture.

Thank you for your detailed comment! I'm not really thought much about the technical details, when he made this picture. First of all, I paid attention to the composition. So with a half-open lantern he looks more interesting than the closed (plus a clearly visible traces of rain on the glass). Same thing about the wheel is turned, the wings and flaps. And what about the impact of raindrops on the engine - I do not know exactly what it looks like, but I do not think that will be very noticeable at this distance. But that's just my opinion - I could be wrong Thanx again
