The colors you chose are perfect. The greens and reds in the skin and clothes give some great texture. I like how the green background brings out the color in the eye. I might suggest to make the background a tad less bright next time, just so it isn't too distracting. But I really love the texture in the brush strokes.
The shadows look great! Really adds some depth. Though you might want to keep the light source a little more consistent. The light seems to be coming from the right on the face, though the highlight on the eye seems to suggest the light is coming from the left, and on the nose and mouth it just seems to be coming from the front/above. It also might be nice to throw in a little bit of a shadow that's cast by the nose.
Another thing that you can try next time is some light on the hair. Maybe some areas with little or no pen lines, only the watercolor? Or you could go the other way and have lighter watercolors in part, but keep the inking as it is now. It would give the head a little more depth overall.
