This is artwork for encounter #8 of the encounter short stories for my series Blackhaven Institution which is written below. The day Blackhaven Institution a house for orphaned children and unwanted infants burned to the ground mysteriously one day, the souls of those trapped inside became corrupted by an evil that warped them into demons that dwell in an alternate Blackhaven Institution.There they await those who are dragged into this alternate world by an unknown evil. The encounter with this nightmare “Jack In The Box” takes place in the "Orphan Wing" as follows:

It is around closing time at the Kason's Market, one of many fast food restaurant chains that can be found in Dracove city. Manager Abdul Kanwal paces around the restaurant making sure everything gets done before the store's official closing at 10:00pm. Abdul has a tendency to get easily aggravated at fellow employees but especially at new ones. He also gets off on teasing and messing around with them. As usual Abdul begins to yell and curse at them complaining about how incompetent they are as a few newer employees are struggling to meet the closing time of 10:00pm. It is almost 10:30 as two of the last remaining workers who are fairly new remain try their hardest to finish up before Abdul comes back from his smoke break and really lashes out. Abdul stands outside pacing on the phone with the general manager, complaining about the new employees. Heading back inside and ready to shout Abdul actually hesitates before the door, he hears a faint jingle reminiscent of the children's tune “Pop goes the weasel” coming from inside the restaurant. He burst through the door yelling “You fucking serious you can't fucking finish on fucking time and you have the nerve to play that fucking stupid jingle!!!”. One of the new employee now irritate at this point yells “What the hell are you talking about??? I'm finished anyways” while the other giggles. Abdul gets aggravated at this talking back and yells “If I ever hear it again your both fucking fired!”. The new employees gives Abdul a disgusted look and head out the door, one of them flipping off Abdul once he has his back turned to them. Abdul does the finishing touches on the restaurant yakking to himself about why the new employees would play such an odd tune during work. Finished Abdul gets into his car driving out of the city towards his home which is on the outer limits of Dracove City. Turning on the radio and putting on some gangsta rap, Abdul feels like a badass as he speeds through the outer suburbs of Dracove city. While singing along to 'Ya Shook' by the rapper known as Da nuke, the track suddenly skips. What now plays on the radio is the jingle from before. Abdul confused stops singing immediately and shuts off the radio. He shakes his head saying “I must be hearing shit, I'm fucking stressed...'yawn' and very tired”. Abdul pulls over to the side of the road. There he suddenly falls into a deep sleep, his head falls forward into the car's steering wheel. Even the loud beep of his forehead resting on the car horn is not enough to keep him awake as he makes the transition into the Alternate Blackhaven Institution...

Abdul opens his eyes to a brief grainy colorless vision, he finds himself standing in a room full of children who are playing with various toys. His attention is drawn to three children in a huddle, snickering and whispering to each other. They occasionally look over their shoulder at one other child, a boy in the corner by himself who is playing with a model train. The three children turn around, one of them with a toy Jack in the box in his hand. The vision freezes and Abdul's surroundings then begin to catch on fire, a fire which quickly spreads throughout the room consuming all. Abdul gags heavily on the smoke that fills the room and sweats profusely from the intense heat of the fire, yet is somehow unharmed by it. After a few more seconds the whole vision goes black, Abdul feels as if he is falling... Landing on his feet , Abdul is now disoriented as he turns in all directions to only see black. Suddenly a section of where he is lights up revealing some of his surroundings. Abdul's jaw hangs low quivering, his eyes wide open, shocked by what he sees. Toys lay scattered all around him, something very, very wrong with their appearance... Covered in the veiny texture which covers the wall and floor around Abdul these toys are ghastly disturbing versions of their previous state. Abdul observes an eyeless baby doll covered in a blanket, with pale skin and a gaping mouth in its chest. A stuff elephant with dark liquid dripping from its snout and a gaping wound on its chest, with a realistic expression of pain riddle on what should be a lifeless face. A handmade sock doll stands charred and billowing with smoke. A toy dinosaur completely covered in a horrid leathery skin moves about. A stuffed bear, fused into a plastic chair ,though with a face that has the look of a normal toy, dark tears drip from its eyes as it wiggles its stubby arms. Lastly he sees the most disturbing toy, a ball appearing to be made of flesh with a human face that is visible on it with an expression mixed of pure agony and sorrow.

Abdul stands there frightened and confused about his current situation. Looking at the wall he notices a disturbing illustration showing several stick figures falling below a building into a fire containing three giant stick figures, the words carved into the wall read “AND THEY ALL FELL INTO THE FIRE”. Abdul panicked repeats several times to himself “This place is fuck!!!” as he back steps away from the illustration. Abdul begins to hears a familiar jingle, heavily distorted it echoes from the darkness ahead of him. The jingle is mixed with what sounds like a metal handle struggling to turn itself, scrapping the insides of some sort of contraption. Abdul sweating and shivering with anticipation for what maybe be coming. Fretting in place he stands no knowing what to do or where to go. It then appears from the darkness... Slightly suspended off the floor before him floats an abomination...something that shouldn't even exist in the most twisted of nightmares. The nightmarish entity shoots a black liquid onto Abdul before he even has the full time to realize and react to what he is now witnessing before him. It sprays onto the front of Abdul mostly covering the right side of his body. Feeling an intensely painful burning sensation he watches in horror crying as the liquid begins to corrode through his clothes onto his flesh. The jingle ceases, then theres is a moment of silence. Abdul looks up from his wounds as something springs out from within this abomination before him, grabbing him tightly and digging its sharp nails into his flesh. Its long tongue gently wraps around Abdul's neck, as he is petrified struggling to get himself to look all the way up. Looking into its face Abdul lets out a brief scream waving his arms struggling to escape, it bites his right hand clean off. Abdul looking at his right hand now missing in shock faints as it then pulls him with it into the giant box, the lid slamming shut. The handle begins cranking again and the jingle resumes as the abomination slips away into the darkness. Abdul's soul soon sinking into the depths of the Alternate Blackhaven Institution...
