Description
This was a prize in the Benders Vs Bronies competition held on reddit. The winner wanted a line art painting.Gradients are difficult.

The piece is a stencil painting made from a vector from the show. It is acrylic spray paint on 12x12 canvas.
All told, it took about 2 or 3 hours to make.
The photo isn't the best quality because I took it at night with a crappy camera so I could show the person who commissioned the piece the final result. I post my work to DA so that other people can enjoy the work that I do.
I understand that some people don't like MLP, and that is totally fine. I am also more than open to critique of my work. Complaining that a piece of art has a subject matter which you don't like is very childish. I am not making this for anyone but the commissioner and for myself as a project to spend an afternoon relaxing.
Before 10/8, I had heard the term Daily Deviation just once or twice. I had no idea how they were picked or anything. I am glad that I was picked because more people can see my art, which is always cool to me. I am disappointed that so many people are dropping negative comments here because it is not up to some standard they expect in a daily or because of the content.
I do want to thank everyone who has taken the time to look through my gallery and favorite some of my work. Painting is just a hobby for me that I got swept up in. Seeing other people like my work is always cool.

Technique wise, it's good, though this disappoints me that it's a trace but I'm guessing you have permission from the person who wanted this prize by request. I don't see it a DD worthy, but it's a good, cute piece.

The art isnt badby any means as it does have a nice warhol spin on it, but it seems kinda silly that a DD staff member would take an award usually reserved for innovation and whatnot and give it to something like this (no offense to the artist).

I prefer people drawing fan art of things in their own style and great concepts to get a DD. AT LEAST, it would be somewhat original enough to be featured.

If anyone has a problem with this being a DD, may it be because you hate MLP (or it's fandom), don't give a shit about stencil art, or whatever, you should really be messaging ^kiwi-pdd about it. ~pyrobob did not pick himself to receive a DD. If you message kiwi and want to be taken seriously try not to sound like an asshole.
In other news: The gradient is gorgeous. And it goes without saying that the lines are ridiculously clean. I'd personally like to see the artist's own version of Luna, but since this was a contest prize for someone else I can't be finicky.

But why is it color if it's a line art? Aren't line arts supposed to be blank (uncolored)?

Line art may be a bad way to describe it. I like negative space, and thought keeping some of the original colors would look nice while playing with the background color.

i'm pretty sure there is a term for that type of art, but don't worry, it's experiment, i mean, i'd faint if i could get a prize like that!
If could even come close to painting like this... you have no idea... i've looked at the rest of your gallery and i'm in love with it all ...
and i'm sorry you had to deal with those people who didn't think deserve you a DD, they are just too nostalgic, they're certainly not being helpful... I do believe you deserve a DD, not necessarily for this work,(because it's a test, like you said) but for one of the many fine art piece that lay in gallery.

I just want to say that I think this piece is really amazing, and that I respect the fact that it takes time, effort, and skill to create a spray of this nature. It's certainly nothing I could do, particularly not at this level! That gradient effect must've been a difficult thing to accomplish.
I also want to thank you for making this piece as a prize in the charity competition we held, as it really helped bring in donations. I'm sure the winner will be overjoyed with this piece! It's truly excellent.
Lastly, I want to say thanks to DA for being a platform to view and share artwork of all varieties. It seems that your getting featured as a Daily Deviation has perplexed, and even enraged, a few folks. The great thing about DA is that so many different types of art, both in terms of media and subject, can be brought to the fore and shared. I would hope that folks who don't care for the subject matter, or who don't understand the work you put in here, would simply accept that there are things they don't agree with in life - But hey, it's the internet, so whatcha gonna do?

And I imagine that this art media is quite difficult to use, especially getting that gradient, so MLP aside, this is a DD worthy piece of art.

Meh, I made a painting for someone who donated to charity for a contest we had. He wanted that pose, and I am not a fan of remaking a work if another artist is ok with his piece being used in derivative works.
Making stencil art is something I do for fun and to relax on the weekends. I can vector, but I find working with physical media to be more fun.
I don't care if you like the show or not, myself and many other people do.

Part of me was curious as to why this was a DD, it just seems to be a trace from the show...although a more impressive one...HOWEVER I can't say much really because I have no idea how hard it is to make something like this. Perhaps it's a very difficult art form, I wouldn't know. It is very pretty and I would like one on my own bedroom wall
