This was a prize in the Benders Vs Bronies competition held on reddit. The winner wanted a line art painting.Gradients are difficult.

The piece is a stencil painting made from a vector from the show. It is acrylic spray paint on 12x12 canvas.
All told, it took about 2 or 3 hours to make.
The photo isn't the best quality because I took it at night with a crappy camera so I could show the person who commissioned the piece the final result. I post my work to DA so that other people can enjoy the work that I do.
I understand that some people don't like MLP, and that is totally fine. I am also more than open to critique of my work. Complaining that a piece of art has a subject matter which you don't like is very childish. I am not making this for anyone but the commissioner and for myself as a project to spend an afternoon relaxing.
Before 10/8, I had heard the term Daily Deviation just once or twice. I had no idea how they were picked or anything. I am glad that I was picked because more people can see my art, which is always cool to me. I am disappointed that so many people are dropping negative comments here because it is not up to some standard they expect in a daily or because of the content.
I do want to thank everyone who has taken the time to look through my gallery and favorite some of my work. Painting is just a hobby for me that I got swept up in. Seeing other people like my work is always cool.

Not a bad picture but you might want to bump the contrast a little. I'm sure it looks better IRL but photographing your art usually messes it up some. Digital tweaks are just about a must.
It's a little anal but it's really distracting to me that the edges of the painting aren't parallel with the edges of the photograph. In the future, you might want to try either lining things up better or go the opposite direction and play with the fact your painting exists in 3D space to make a whole new image.
Congrats on the DD! Though I am sorry the volunteer who featured you didn't take into account the reaction it'd get. Better luck next time?

It's cool. I didn't expect the image would get more than a few hundred views at most. The image was taken to show the winner of the prize what it looked like. If I had known that so many more would have seen it, I would have gotten my SLR our and framed the shot a bit better with some nicer lighting.

I think this would deserve a DD only if the artist had drawn the picture of Luna him/herself beforehand, instead of just using somebody else's vector. Yeah, I know that you are allowed to use vectors on this website, but not when it comes to DDS.

I have Aspergers syndrome too. I'm very low on the autistic spectrum though, I'm only affected by the white matter of my brain that controls social things, and the brain boosts over parts of my brain more than normal peoples to try make it equal. I'm sorry if I offended anyone, I'm studying about Down's Syndrome in Biology and it's really interesting... :<

Scientifically, I don't have an extra chromosome 21.
I don't have trouble developing my body while growing up, I'm not small and I don't have a low IQ.
Sociall+Scientific viewpoint, we aren't different. We're human beings and we need to treat eachother the same. We're all cousins (scientifically speaking). I have absolutely nothing against people with Down syndrome, people all around the internet make 'You must be autistic' jokes as insults to people, and it's really affected me emotionally, so out of anger I made one up about people with Down's syndrome. I'm really sorry, I don't mean it. :<

Tossing bronydom aside for a second, this is really well done. All done with spray paint? How long did this take?

Leaving out the time for paint drying, it took about 2 hours. Stencil cutting took about 45 minutes.

I find it quite saddening to see people flaming you for getting a DD, when it was in no way under your control. The DA admins are, at the end of the day, the one's who hold those cards...
But other than that; this is really well done

Cute, yes, but I apologise for not seeing anything very impressive about it - at least not DD level, I mean.
It's probably due to the fact that I know nothing about stencils; I've seen people commenting about the gradient and how hard it is to get that kind of effect with that technique, so this is very highly just lack of knowledge on my part.

Considering the technique used, it's not surprising to me. Spraypaint is notoriously difficult to control, and getting crisp lines like that, even with masking tape, is not easy either. The gradient is most impressive as well. I've personally tried to get one with spraybombs, and I had to give up after the paint started to get too thick and loose the texture of the canvas.

also, spray paint and stencil art is VERY difficult to do well. Trust me, I know form experience

I don't think it's always the case... sometimes I look at a DD and go "Wow, that is amazing, I can't believe someone actually made that!" I understand spray painting is hard... but I really just don't see it with this one.
