I think a lot of people just have trouble working out how to make a crystal look transparent. It's hard!

Definitely, but I think not having a crystal to reference on hand hurts. Since, most of the time, references are on a solid background and unmoving, so it looks like it's solid.

I am doing a series, yes! I don't really have a plan for them, though. I mostly just draw them when one of the mineral blogs I follow on tumblr posts something extra cool

Huh, what about lapis lazuli? It's one of my favorite blue stones. It's a type of blue stone that has gold particles in it. I also found a really cool rainbow-esque mineral that looks like a bunch of boxes. I forgot the name of it. Do you know it? Here: [link]

I have considered doing Lapis, but like I said, I don't really plan these!

I do believe that's a bismuth crystal

You are absolutely right! I absolutely love the bismuth crystal. It's so unusual but it is natural! Funny how life makes things sort of things, huh?
