Love this movie so much and the creature design was inspired. The art here doesnt truly capture them as it would make the picture kinda boring because the beasts are so black that they ar like hairy shadows. They seriously are flat black with no specular highlights and only those crazy/awesome glowing teeth give them any detail. Great flick and a must see. Great rendition of the creature Frances.

I'm aware of that. It's just very boring to paint something that is essentially a silhouette. Plus, the light-absorbing black fur was added in post-production due to the original creatures not looking scary enough. They used to be a sort of coal gray color.

Yeah, they were pitch black... which was super creative in the film! But it's awesome to see the textured fur like this ^.^ And you did the shape of the beast justice too - I like the attention to the different length of fur on the shoulder with shorter elsewhere... I'll stop rambling xD Great work!!
