Description
A fox mask, made on commission. I believe this mask is going to be used in an independent short film (about a guy slowly transforming into a fox), once it gets to its owner.Materials: cast resin (underskull), resin jawset, glass eyes, faux fur (custom-dyed).

That sounds cool. I wonder if the person who asked for it had ever read "Lady into Fox" because that would be very inspirational to his movie.
It's a book in the twenties about a refined woman who suddenly out of nowhere had turned into a fox and then very gradually loses her human side, driving her husband who was committed to stay with her forever no matter how bad things get, goes almost insane when she starts to not even recognize him anymore and is eating live rabbits.
It was a very psychological story and was very short but man was it interesting.

Amazing work you have here, I've seen a few things where the eyes look like they are following you.

It's an optical illusion. Because of the shape of the glass lens, the pupils appear to follow you around a little, especially in photos.

Haha, all of these costumes are made on commission. They don't spend more than a day or two in my house completed before I ship them off someplace. Costuming making is how I make my living.

Though I am ignorant of the complicated, multi-layered process that created this piece, I think the best praise I can give is that is looks like an authentic, anthropomorphic fox head, and certainly on-par with a motion picture make-up artist.

Optical illusion - the pupils on the dome eyes have a slight following effect. Not as dramatic as an eye made to have a distinct following illusion, but pretty neat.

really? I know how the optical illusion is, but I don't remember being able to see a glare with it. If someone could get their masks to do this and blink, that would be really realistic then. How much do you sell for? I'm actually planing on buying a fursuit in the future, because I'm gonig to attend college in Pitssburgh at the art institute there, and anthrocon is like, 5 blocks from it, lol

Well, I worked on it on and off for a couple months in between other projects... but maybe... 20-ish hours of work? That's a very rough guess. I need to keep better track of these things, haha.

I think the most amazing thing about this is that it looks like a fox. Not a wolf or a coyote. So many people who make realistic fursuits tend to make all three of those independent species look exactly the same.
And the mask is so well-proportioned to the human stature, I have to say, I'm impressed. Beautiful work. If I didn't know any better, I'd say he really IS turning into a fox. ;3
