Description
Notes: I suggest drawing all the hands here (just for practice)....and see if you guys improve or notOh, and on another note, never try to hide the hands when drawing a picture. After all, forcing yourself to draw them on a body is the best way to practice ^^.
Finally, never be afraid to use references. Use your own hands if you must (unless your hands are like mine...fat and chubby and generally unappealing), or take a picture of someone's hand. Imagination and memory can only take the technical side of drawing to a certain point until you have drawing enough to master it.
-----------
Sorry, it's a bit big. These hands were compiled in a week's time through observing people and drawing hands in life-drawing
Also, I'm not a professional (yet xD;; ), so there still may be mistakes in my drawing. but I tried my best ^^.
People has been asking me for a tutorial and I've been meaning to do one for...the longest time, ever.
I know there are a lot of hand tutorials out there, but since it's my favourite body part to draw, I though, "why not?". I personally can't get enough of looking at different tutorials on doing stuff, so....yah
I hope it's helpful even a little. The references at the bottom are for everyone to look at and, well, reference, if need be.
Tutorial #2

Why must hands be so damned difficult?!
This is amazing, even if there are others out there, it's always helpful to see other way of doing things like this!

You are so very good at hands! I'm very jealous! I'm very thankful you put a couple of references at the bottom. I'm constantly using at least three references per drawing, and they still look nothing like your work. I hope that your tutorial will help me to grow more and to get better at hands and be less shy about them. ^.^

Thank you so much for this helpful tutorial!
I'm glad to see someone else who finds drawing circles for the knuckles to be an unnecessary hassle. To me, it just makes the hand look unnaturally round and weird looking... Instead, I just draw little dots to make sure I know where the joints are at times.

I really appreciate the chopstick/hand reference image...I've been trying several times to draw someone holding chopsticks but it never seems to look right. (I've tried using my own hands as models too but it doesn't work out )

I agree! I also dont get the point of drawing circle on the knuckles.. :/ It just makes you work hard on drawing a detail so tiny that is only gonna make your drawing look wrong...

Here's a fun fact you may want to add (if nobody already pointed it out): Men tend to have a longer ring finger than index finger whereas women tend to have a longer index finger than ring finger. When you draw a hand with straight fingers this can help deliniate between a male and female hand. Therefore if you draw a woman with a longer ring finger, her hands tend to look more manly and vice versa for men. Try it out and see!

Faved for references... an absolute must-have for a novice like me!
Great fun doodling all these, and I quite like the fact you disregard the whole "seperate knuckle" base as well; why overcomplicate something already so complicated!?

This is super helpful. Hands have always been difficult for me. I especially love your suggestion to draw a quick, short-hand sketch instead of drawing out a bunch of shapes for the knuckles/fingers. I will definitely try that and see if that method works out better for me. Thank you for putting this together!
