Description
A map of Kim Newman and Eugene Byrne's "Back in the USSA" [1], in which the far right takes control of the US after Teddy Roosevelt's 1905 assassination, and then enters WWI in search of a "glorious little war" without bothering to make the financial sacrifices necessary to properly equip its army, leading to a revolution in 1917. In Europe a compromise peace is patched up between the powers, in the face of the new Red Menace across the Atlantic: but a WWII still happens between Germany and (White, not Commie) Russia plus the UK, between the USSA and Japan...(I have removed a few of the sillier elements of the scenario, since it is a fairly silly book. I may do a 2013 followup if people like it).

Very nice map you made. Did you get the details for the map form the book or did you make some of the details up? I would also love to see a 2013 version of this map.

The USSA eventually declares war on Germany when it looks likely the Germans will lose, so they can get a finger or two in the European pie...

Waittttttt. Germany and Japan versus White Russia/the UK with the USSA as a non-aligned co-belligerent fighting Japan?

Heh. He could still be from Kansas. Will Ma and Pa Kent oversee the collective farm?

I also feel a 2013 version would be good.
Could Gorge H.W. Bush or Dick Cheney make good Putin stand ins?

Apparently, great minds think alike, as I had long imagined Ryan being a Putin stand-in (prior to reading your opinion on the matter), with his strong intelligence ties. Is your would-be strongman Ryan a former director of the Federal Bureau of Ideology?
Speaking of that alt-FBI, whither Dana Scully and Fox Mulder in that reality? With the end of state-imposed atheism in the USSA, occultism might flourish, giving them much to chew on, despite the efforts of an ominous, chain-smoking apparatchik from the old regime covering up USSA-era paranormal research for military purposes, just as the real-world USSR was alleged to have done. (As well as hindering Fox's investigation into the regime "disappearing" his sister under Chairman Trickydick.)
As for ignoring sillier elements of Byrne and Newman's book, might I suggest that much of the historically-inaccurate flaws (the Lincoln Memorial shedding tears of ice, despite the actual memorial not existing in 1912-13, the hatchet job the authors did on Teddy Roosevelt's character, Jimmy Hoffa being on Capone's cabinet in the 20s, despite the real Hoffa being a kid at the time, etc.) could simply be old Marxist propaganda clouding the actual historical record?
By all means, keep up the good work with the map. Love it!

Sculder and Mully are probably part of the Goverment Bureau of Information
So, if Ryan is the Putin stand in...Does that means he will support Boris Johnson to be in the power during 2016 against Theresa May? (With Johnson supporters calling her "Crooked Theressa") and thus even having the premise of building a wall to exit the European Union and make England great again?

now that i think about it, George W Bush would probably make a better Putin than Trump. i feel that Clinton would be Boris Yeltsin

I wonder who Putin will be in your version (I can't really see Bill Clinton being the Putin analogue)

Definitely not Clinton: the original book includes several pop-culture imaginary characters running around, so I'm still deciding whether to go with actual historical figures or to look to recent fiction for a sufficiently Magnificent Bastard.

This was the book that first got my into Alternate History all those years ago, so I'm utterly in love with this map. I'd love to see a 2013 follow-up.
In short, brilliant work as always
