Finished Secret Santa gift for toywitch of their character, Marrok! I hope you like it. <3

I was totally stoked to find out who I would be drawing for this year because I've always had a soft spot for Marrok ever since the days of Vale! ;A;

I also took this opportunity to play around with how I create BGs. I realized I tend to use a lot of photo references for inspiration and study, which I noticed can conflict with my toonier style of drawing characters since I try to recreate the photos rather than use them to guide my work, if that makes sense. So instead, I decided to dust off an old folder I'd saved of BG animation/illustrations I really enjoyed over the years and practice a simpler, more "illustrated" style of BG! This one image I saved in particular had a really nice simplicity to it that I enjoyed, as well as a limited color palette and cool VS warm color balance to help draw your eye.

So I used that as reference/inspiration and plan to experiment with my BG style a lot more moving forward! I also referenced this lovely photo when sketching, as it just screamed Marrok vibes when I'd first seen it lol
