Description Wasu did as she was instructed, her heavily-accessoried foreleg going to work at wrangling the pups away from the blood and gore that fed their morbid curiosities. Priskal gave a strong nod to Quill's orders, then turned and broke into a swift run back to the Clan's camp. She alerted Aero, who had just received word of the strange killing. He began organizing search parties to account for every member of the Clan that wasn't presently visible. Those entrails belonged to someone.

Quill lowered his head towards the mess, nose going to work as if to try and identify a familiar scent. Instead, he squinted his eyes and withdrew his muzzle from the stench of the kill. His foreleg rose and pressed against his nose to try and shield his senses. What was that awful odor...? It was like nothing his nose had ever come across. Flies began to circle around the stained grasses. Quill was uncertain as to how they would be able to find out what had happened...until an ominous figure appeared in the distance.

It was a couple of hill-lengths away, very tall, very broad. It resembled a snowy Murai with its size, yet it lacked their thick fur and replaced it with muscle. Squinting, Quill tried to see what it was doing, determine whether or not it was friend or foe. A horrible feeling met the pit of his stomach as he considered the possibility of this creature being responsible for the mess before him. As another Clan scout approached, Quill's eyes never strayed from the foreign figure in the distance. Motionless, they seemed to be staring at each other. What are you doing...he asked himself. Why are you here...

Just as the scout was about to speak, Quill's body jolted in surprise. The beast tore its eyes away from him and instead, stared off in the direction of the Clan's camp. Gritting his teeth with a growl, he hesitated. He took one step forward. The scout fell silent, intimidated by his general's intense stare and concentration. It was a waiting game, a tease. Never blinking, the Crowbrush Clan general waited...watching...until it happened.

The beast broke into a dead run, descending the hill he had occupied for the past few minutes. He tore through the grass like a mad bull, his feet carrying him faster than any creature Quill had ever seen. What was this beast? Before the scout had a chance to gasp, Quill barked his orders before tearing down the hill. "Get everyone into the dens, now!"

The general doubted he had ever run so fast in all his life. His snowy-white body practically flew above the green grasses of the plains. His nails dug deeply into the fertile soil of his homeland, kicking up grass tendrils and chunks of dirt in the process. Like a bird, he soared in the direction of the enemy, hoping he could run fast enough to intercept him. Barely panting, Quill's ears dropped, his mane beating in the air behind him like a flag in a hurricane. Within moments, his muzzle was wrinkled in a snarl as his jaws parted. His hind leg muscles bunched as he launched himself into the air. His opponent, though towering over him, was thrown off his projectory at the force of Quill's assault. They had nearly reached the camp.

It was like hitting a brick wall head-on. This beast was easily larger than a snowy Murai, yet he was faster, stronger...where had he come from? His jaws found the creature's neck as his nails went to work to try and break through the thick fur and tear at skin. Shaking his head, foe-in-maw, Quill braced for the creature's bucking. His body flopped about helplessly as he held on, determined to break through to his enemy's weak spots. Yet his efforts were in vain. A large, powerful, feline-clawed paw found Quill's side. He was scraped off like dirt on a shoe, then flung some distance away. He recovered quickly and continued the assault upon the monster.

-----------------------------------

Just a snippet from a post on the Murai Wolf RP forum ([link] ). I decided to illustrate a scene from the RP, as I plan to do more frequently to work on my illustration skills, and chose something a bit more "action-packed" than what my work usually portrays. Because let's face it, my work is boring. No interesting angles/scenes, characters standing around in a white void, same poses, etc. That's a big reason why I created the RP board; so I would have constant ideas and scenes to illustrate.

So, Quill versus an Aivandorian soldier. I like a lot about this picture, but then...there's a lot I don't like. Such as Quill being cut off at the bottom of the page. And the lousy background. Granted, it's better than NO background, but I still need a lot of practice. And yeah...my lighting is terrible, but I'll try harder next time. ._.

My boyfriend Jake suggested I redo the pic a bunch of times, trying different angles and poses. I think I'll do that, actually. Good practice. I want something even more in-your-face, something intimidating. For now, though, this is done. I spent too much time on it already. x.x;

This looks really nice! I love the different poses, read the reply to the top one so it's understandable about the little ones pose ^^.

The bg looks really nice and the expressions for teh most part are both terrifying and nicely done. The only thing that throws the fear of the big one is its eyes. I dunno he has this terrifying expression but somewhat worried/fearful eyes. Maybe it's just me

Great work non-the-less

Thanks very much! I appreciate all your comments, you're awesome.

And yeah, I think that big one has a good reason to look even slightly afraid; Quill is totally going to kick his butt and he knows it! xD

Wow, I think you did very good on this. Except for the fact that the little one's stance looks funny with the BG. Other than that I think you did a great job.

Actually, now that I look at this...the bottom of the picture was cut off a LOT. Quill (the white male) actually had one foot on the ground and there were shadows beneath him. So he blended in much better with the rest of the scene. I guess I just didn't notice. Bah, maybe I'll upload a better version later, but you're right, his stance is odd. I noticed it later, as did my BF. >_
Thanks for the comment, though!
