Known as Elvaan in their own language, Elves are representatives of an old and gradually dying race; on many worlds, Elves are already extinct, leaving behind only a legacy of finely-crafted artifacts and half-forgotten fairy tales. Yet this is a situation almost entirely of their own making, a product of fierce arrogance and natural ennui, bitter civil wars and protracted conflicts with other races. Therein, for better or for worse, lies the true tragedy of Elvenkind.

Though generally resembling humans, Elves tend towards the tall and spindly, with long necks and oval faces; their skins are darker than the average human’s, ranging from light tan to a darker bronze or copper color. Their best-known features, however, are the infamous pointed ears, protruding from their heads at lengths between fifteen and twenty centimeters; these are in part responsible for the remarkable grace and fluidity Elven individuals exhibit in their movements and actions.
