Description
Jericho Redgrave. Leader by default of the Twilight Hour. Son of a Lt. James Redgrave of the US Special Forces strike team Alpha, Jericho was born with "the sight". Able to see spirits, he learned to supress his abilities until the spirits decided to make it impossible for him to ignore them. After his mother was murdered, Jericho's father drank himself to an early grave. Physically and mentally broken, Jericho stumbled through the city until he happened upon the Priest, who took the young man in. Giving Jericho odd jobs, the Priest schooled Jericho in the power of the Angels.
Now, Jericho prowls the streets, hunting demons, and wayward spirits armed with the names of Angels to fuel his strength and abilities.

This is the original Sorry, this one was pencilled, inked and colored all on one sheet, I'm not sure if I saved a scan of the pencils or not, but I'll check

Thanks, I had fun with this. I just wish the blue line background wouldn't have shown through the colors.

THanks, I was hoping to push myself a bit with the colors on this one. I still need to get ahold of some opaque white, and I've been aching to try watercolors with the inks as well

Are there dice that go with that name? I like the stain glass concept, along with the bold flats. The serated line that seems to eat its way around the page amuses me. I take it you just went outsid the border on some comic paper?

QuestingRaven In reply to Steelpengu [2006-05-04 13:12:08 +0000 UTC]
I'm not sure what you may be referring to with the "dice" question.
As for "just went outsid" ... I had to make a descision. Either loose the top and bottom 1.5 inches of the image (by trying to fit an 11x17 image onto a 11x14 page), and thus reducing the impact of it, or deal with having blue line printed behind the colors.
So, in that case, yes ... I just went outside the border.
But then again, I don't have the luxury of going out and buying everything I need for my drawings whenever I want. I tend to rely on the material at hand.

I was making light of how his name sounds like an RP character. Hey, and relying on whatever is at hand is the way to go. I still stick with office supplies. They're cheaper and just as effective. Personally.

AH! Unfortunately J isn't an RPG character. I tend to be the one running those games and don't have much of an opportunity to actually play them. *shrug* ah well.

Yeah, people won't let me actually PLAY the games, I have to run them. It's insane. Even if we're trying a new game ... they make me figure out the rules and run the story ... *sigh* ah well.

Well, that means they're either too lazy to DM themselves, or they trust you as a DM better than themselves. I've always wanted to DM. It looks like more fun than the RPing because you get to improvise and experiment with your players.

QuestingRaven In reply to Steelpengu [2006-05-10 12:43:22 +0000 UTC]
DMing is fun, unless you've had a really long day at work, haven't had time to prep the next scene, and the players insist on bringing an NPC to meet Aunt Kate ... who has a visitor herself ... I tell ya having a 3 way conversation with yourself under those circumstances can lead to interresting results.

I'm working on it, I promise I've got a couple of sample scripts that I'm going to start working on very soon, so I can sent them to publishers, I'm also in the process of building a portfolio to send to game publishers, in hopes of finding a bit of work there as well.
If I could just write, I'd be set, 'cause I'd do the full Twilight Hour comic thing ... the problem is, they're stuck in my head, and Me+Writing=thesuck ... *shrug*

Lord-Of-The-Guns [2006-05-01 14:06:24 +0000 UTC]
Nice, very powerful pic - especially the colours. With a story like his it would be easy to use a lot of blacks and greys etc. but you kept it colourful and still looking badass. Nicely done. His right hand isn't so hot though, looks smooshed and like his palm is too small. Doesn't detract from the image as a whole, but should your eye be drawn there . . .
And I'm curious about the costume choice. The logo implies its something of a uniform and the markings on the inside must have a purpose too, but seeing too many characters in black trenchcoats has made me cynical. Just reassure me that he's got good reason for wearing it ;^_^ No offense or anything.

QuestingRaven In reply to Lord-Of-The-Guns [2006-05-01 15:57:25 +0000 UTC]
The Markings inside his coat-tail is an Angelic seal. Jericho has several more tattooed across his body, which also glow blue when activated. The ones stiched into his clothing are for more of an "assortment" type idea ... he can pick and choose the support seals that he wants for various creatures i.e. if he's going up against a demon who is made of living fire, he picks the garment that has an "flame-retardant" sigil on it.
To be perfectly fair, J isn't wearing a Trench, he's wearing heavily armored leather (both upper body, and lower), the "backflap" helps conseal the ordinance that he has to carry on a regular basis. The "Uniform" look is due to his background, being raised by the Special Forces unit kind of left a mark on him, so he favors utilitarian and practical accoutrements.
Hope that put your fears of the evil trench coat to rest

Wow... Just looking at the image, I'd have thought Jericho one of the baddies. Sneaky guy...
The colors are gorgeous here - the glowy-icy-shiny-sunsetty-angely-ness is (besides being a gangly, run-on word) a real attention-getter.

That's the effect I was hoping to get. Jericho is definately an anti-hero type guy. He's been battling the demons so long that he's become quite jaded to the normal world.
I was terrified to do the colors on this. I ended up filling in the background, holding it up and asking my wife if I would regret it in the morning LOL

I have finally come across the information. Okay before I explain the 3am let me explain 3pm which I learned of during my research on 3am. 3pm was supposedly the time Christ died, thus making it a holy hour, now 3am is supposed to be an unholy hour where evil spirits and dark entities are able to more free act with less resistance.
