SpaceX, the most prominent private space company in the world, became a multitrillion dollar industry once the Mark 2 Reed Drive allowed the starships of SpaceX to reach interplanetary space using a new RD fusion rocket ship called the Interplanetary Transport System. This ITS fusion-propelled rocket propels SpaceX's new SN100-series starships. These SN100 starships reduced the cost of space travel from thousands (Raptor engines) to hundreds (DRACO nuclear-thermal rockets) to reach orbit and interplanetary space. The ITS quickly replaced the USNSC's Orion-drive colony ships which allowed for the development of USNSC stations on the Jovian Moons. Of course, there were a limited number of starships which prevented most of the public from going into space. As the SN100-series starships were operational in 2045 AD, SpaceX began to offer space tourism to Luna and Mars for those who could afford it and those who were lucky enough to be selected for the trip. Popular celebrities and YouTubers took trips to Artemis Base Camp and Mars Base Camp and became overnight sensations. SpaceX had also begun selling starships to billionaires so they could use them as their space yachts.

Other companies such as Virgin Galactic, Blue Origin, and Bigelow Aerospace began to compete to keep up with SpaceX. Virgin Galactic started purchasing Hafnium-178m2 fuel-catalyzer pellets and deuterium fuel to test Mark 2 Reed Drive engines that could replace the orbital engines on their spaceplanes. Blue Origin had already started testing fusion rockets while Bigelow Aerospace started looking into inflatable space station designs that could be kept in orbit by small Reed Drive thrusters. And then began the dawn of interplanetary space tourism!
