Description
In 2058 AD, Titan became the new center of the Solar System as it had oceans of liquid methane and spawned a new gold rush for replenishing the depleted oil reserves of Earth's superpowers and refueling (mainly) fusion thermal spacecraft. Even though fusion power was now in commercial use, it was still too bulky to be miniaturized for cars and trucks. Only spacecraft, large facilities such as power plants, trains, and naval ships could use Hf178m2-catalyzed D-He3 fusion power. Vehicles such as cars and trucks are either electric, hybrid, or gas propelled and, thus, oil was still in demand. When SpaceX's new Mk3 RD propelled Interplanetary Transport System arrived at Titan, called "Pioneer 1", it opened the door for incoming spacecraft to travel to the outer planets. Titan was one of the best places in the Solar System for colonization since its atmosphere was thick enough to block the harmful radiation from Saturn's radiation belt. Even though Titan's surface gravity was around ten percent that of Earth's, Urea Nitrogen Recycling would ensure those living on Titan could slow their muscle and bone atrophy enough to live a full human life.
To offload as much supplies and equipment as possible, Pioneer 1 was outfitted with 4 SN200 starships, 2 Daggerhawks, and 102 kT of cargo. The USNSC determined the best place to set up an astroport was the Facula region (Facula Station). The logistics of Pioneer 1 was also good practice for SpaceX's Mayflower mission to Proxima b. As the first Daggerhawk landed, humanity began its first step in colonizing the outer Solar System.
